RAV4 2.0L L4

  • Manual transmission
  • 223,800 miles

It was a bit expensive to fix and parts were rather expensive. Got an independent mechanic to fix much cheaper than the dealership. ($500 total). You can't really complain as this is now a 23 year old vehicle with nearly a quarter million miles showing on the odometer. (I am the third owner). Other service centers tried to sell me a transmission replacement ($2800+ installed); problem was not the transmission but actually turned out to be caused by one of the manual transmission shift linkage cables going bad. I went ahead and replaced both of these cables on the advice of the mechanic and have had no problems since.
