accelerator is stuck open

I started driving down my road when my accelerator got stuck wide open and I could not make it stop. I eventually I had to turn the car off while it was going and slam it into park after hitting a snow bank. no damage was caused to the vehicle from the crash as far as I could tell but with my kids in the car this is obviously a serious issue, had I not been able to stop I could have crashed into another car or a tree and caused serious injury or death to my kids myself or someone else. I did not find any recall or information on this but I did on other models by Toyota. I felt others should be aware of it to prevent any other incidents.
