RAV4 Limited 2.0L

Well when it rains, it pours!!! I'm still not sure why transmission slips, sometimes. It quit for 2 days, then started doing the same thing again yesterday afternoon. When I put the key in the ignition, not turning it at all, a humming sound came from under the hood? Could this maybe be electrical? If so, how expensive is it?
