Although I've been driving Toyotas for over 18 years, the 2006 Rav 4 is the worst I've ever owned. I bought the vehicle brand new and have had nothing but problems, most recently the muffler, a part that costs $1200.00 to replace because it has a catalytic converter built right in, what a scam! If it weren't for the emissions portion of my annual inspection I'd just put a muffler from a 1993 Corolla on it because they were made from stainless steel!

My 2006 Toyota RAV4 has been nothing but problems since day one. I've already had five or six of the TSB's done - one replaced more than half of the engine. Now, the Exhaust system is rusted through. Only 25,000 miles. It looked rusted after owing the vehicle for a month or two! I will never purchase another Toyota in my lifetime! luckily covered under warranty. $1,200 item

The supposedly "stainless steel" muffler rusted out. Thankfully, the dealer eventually capitulated to my whining and replaced it under the emissions warranty. Otherwise it would have cost about $1200-$1400.
