Toyota is aware of the problem with their paint. Toyota needs to step up and do the right thing. Otherwise, I believe another class action is needed for any and all of their cars with defective paint.

After my husband passed away, I purchased my first brand new car - a Toyota Rav4. I believed Toyota to be a reputable company. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Toyota is aware that there is a manufacturer's defect with the paint on a number of their vehicles; however, they refuse to acknowledge their liability and fix the problem. The money they would lose to fix the problem would be nothing compared to the money and customers they WILL lose due to their failure to do the right thing. I will NEVER purchase another Toyota and I will tell everyone I know, and probably those I don't know, to NOT purchase a Toyota - PERIOD.

I take good care of my car. I park in a parking lot both at home and at work. It seems odd that the paint on the hood would chip so easily. They are small chips but take away from the look of the car and did it within a few years.

The paint on the top of car on passenger side has a dime size rust spot. The inside drivers side under seat where it bolts in is rusted out after 4 years of owning the car. Toyota dealership said that a rock probably caused the chip paint and the rust spot but this can't be true because I washed my car back then every week and during the winter 2x month I would have saw this spot. When I did see it it was rust to the metal, it's still there.

I questioned a repair shop two years ago on my concerns with paint missing on the hood. He said at that time it could be rock chips and I put on the little bug guard to prevent more damage. Now it is showing up all over the body, with RUST spots where paint should be. The paint cannot be good. The vehicle has under 40,000 miles and I have seen paint that was defective on other makes, that Corporations took care of the needed repair. (GM and Chrysler)

I am upset about the quality of paint used on my toyota vehicle. I took my car into the dealership and met with a representative that specializes in toyota issues. He inspected my vehicle and stated that it is 'fall out' -due to pollutants in the air settling onto the vehicle. They said the issue could be resolved with an acid wash. They offered to do a partial wash (the back door of my vehicle). If this was not an issue, then why try to fix it? Unfortunately the acid wash did not remove all rust. I found others (over the internet) that have experienced the same issue. It seems as if all toyota employees are trained to blame this issue on 'fall out,' but I also have many chips and cracks on my vehicle that came easily with rocks and the paint is raised and peels easily. This paint seems defective, very disappointing.
