RAV4 Sport 2.4L V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 123,000 miles

So I am filling this complaint as this is the 2nd time this has happened to this vehicle since I've owned it (5 years) - both times with the exact same symptoms. My wife was driving and noticed her brakes were not working adequately and had to press her pedal all the way to the floor before they would engage enough to slow down the car. We took it to the dealer where they informed us that a "pin" in the caliper had become frozen and the brakes had locked. They then told us we had to replace the brake calipers, brake pads and resurface the rotors because of uneven wear. Again, because this is the 2nd time in 2-1/2 years. We take care of the car and have it serviced regularly so I am not sure why these "Pins" might stick like this. I've had 2 other Toyota cars (both Avalons) and I got rid of a 1997 with 276,000 miles and my current 2010 Avalon has 127000 and I've had not issues other than normal wear and tear.

Once again, I believe they should have had a recall on brake boosters too since is a very common issue out there.
