The contact owns a 2010 Toyota RAV4. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the steering wheel inadvertently locked and the vehicle loss power. The steering warning light was illuminated. The contact stated he was able to veer to the side of the road while driving downhill. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the alternator needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they could not provide any assistance as the vehicle was out of warranty. A case was opened. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 162,000.

The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Rav4. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15V577000 (visibility/wiper). The vehicle was taken to galaxy Toyota dealer, located on 750 NJ-36, eatontown, NJ 07724 (732) 544-1000, where it was repaired. The contact stated that when she had picked up the vehicle and there was a noise coming from the front of the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle back to galaxy Toyota dealer, where it was informed that the alternator failed and needed to replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the repair fees. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 132,000.
