Purchased new--only owner--diligent maintenance--34K miles. Out of warranty.
Routine oil change revealed a "transaxle leak". Told to go immediately to authorized dealer for repair. No leaks on driveway, No Check Engine light, No warning of a problem. Dealer said the transmission and differential had to be removed to seal the leak. Cost $3000.
That's major. He said this is only seen in cars over 100K miles and we did nothing to cause it. Contacted Toyota and were told "This happens sometimes. Nothing we can do." We asked for some compensation for what appears to be a big design flaw and for putting us in a potentially dangerous situation. That's absolutely poor customer service. In the market for a new car---and it won't be a Toyota.
