This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Toyota dealer.
After only 14 months owning a brand new 2014 RAV4 the brakes went out. It started by the brakes making horrible sounds. When I brought it over to Toyota, the admitted it was not normal wear and tear so they replaced them for free. This is only the first complaint of several to come

Rear brakes are making a scraping noise when the car has sat for a while, seems to stop once you get going but sounds like metal on metal as if you need new brake pads. I have found others with the same problem online, none have found a solution or received any answers from the manufacturer.

Toyota Chula Vista service department cannot handle simple brake issues!
Three months after having my brakes replaced on my 15 month old RAV4 because of the grinding sounds they were making, the sounds started up again. The dealership said on brake was down to 9mm and the other was down to 3mm?! I thought brakes were supposed to wear down at about the same rate?
The dealership called in a specialist who said my brakes were being applied while my car was accelerating... What am I driving with a foot on both pedals (BTW I am not!)??? Toyota Chula Vista refused to replace the breaks under the warranty. Forcing me to submit a Lemon Law complaint and submit this rant.
There is no way, under normal wear and tear, both sides of my brake pads have a 6mm difference in them. Especially after only 3 months of use!
