I purchased a New 2019 Toyota Rav 4, October 2019. July 2020 I noticed that the back cargo platform was caved in after I had 4 cases of water back there from the store. The dealership told me that it's not meant to hold anything more than regular groceries and light weight items. No people sitting back there, no large dogs, nothing heavy, no hauling anything back there. The pictures on their websites shows people and dogs, 5 suitcases, stuffed with camping items, 3 sets of gold clubs, paddle board etc which weighs way more than groceries.
I know a few different people that own a Rav 4 and they have had 2 adults and 3 kids back there with no problems, plus 1 even hauled an antique dresser that took 3 people to carry and their cargo area is just fine. This is a faulty cargo area, and the corporate rep is refusing to fix it, so I will have to fight them on it. I have owned Toyota's for over 20years, but will never buy another Toyota, or recommend anyone to buy one.
