I take very good care of my vehicles. They are all hand washed by me using only clean or new microfiber towels. It's INSANE to me how a brand new, slightly dampened microfiber towel caused this damage to my dash. I checked and checked the towel again to look for anything abrasive stuck in the fibers and it's perfectly clean, I even tore the tag off before using it!
These scratches DO NOT wipe off, not with soapy water or interior cleaner. Out of curiosity, I just rubbed my finger on a undamaged spot on the dash and found that even light rubbing of skin caused small scratches. To top it off, upon further inspection to parts of the dash that I can't readily see, there are small scratches from previous cleanings as well.
I can't imagine why Toyota would design a dash with a material like this. Yeah, it may look and "feel" nice but it's not durable. I have a feeling more people will start to complain about this.

Hi there! I understand ur problem, I own the 2021 Rav4, and I had that issue the first week. I learnt that using the Cleaning Wipes Towels that you get on BJ’s the three pack, use the Protectan first.
Update from Nov 29, 2022: and then the cleaning wipes, make sure dashboard isn’t hot is better when is cold . it will to cover up the scratches a bit tho .
