RAV4 Hybrid 4-cyl

  • 11,000 miles
Our names are [xxx] residing at [xxx] in [xxx].as of July 17 we started encountering very dangerous and odd intermittent behavior on our 2017 rav 4 hybrid [xxx] which was purchased from Toyota of lake city in December of 2016. Currently, we believe the car is unsafe to drive due to this unrepaired serious safety defect and we are not driving it. In July my wife first experienced this behavior where the car would drive forward while in reverse. She later experienced it again with our friend lise kauffman in mid-August (8-10thish) while on orcas island. On Tuesday the 22nd - we got in touch with gabe in service and then later karen. We were told this was very odd shouldn't be happening and they would need to see it happen. We waited until the truck could be seen by a Toyota rep - who visits once a month - on 8/31 and were told they couldn't make it happen. Saturday 9/9 it happened again as jenn was parallel parking (moving vehicle) on yessler way which almost made her hit a car. Monday 9/11 it happened with van driving in our driveway (stationary) and we filmed it.Tuesday 9/12 spoke to caren - still spoke of how odd this was and they could not duplicate it. I told her about video and concern about our safety - bigger issue - was told she would continue to discuss and they were on our side. Sent her video via email to [xxx]. today, Wednesday 9/13 I spoke to [xxx] at 2:30 and she asked me more questions about our driveway (which I've made clear - multiple times - and once again asked if we could bring the car in and duplicate the situation. We have been very clear in our communication that this is an intermittent issue and thus we can't. we do have it on film and can no longer drive the car with the fear of something greater happening to endanger us, others or property.
