Sequoia Limited V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 16,000 miles

The back hatch kept opening when I was driving.

I took it to the dealer and he stated "Yes, it is a design flaw" but when I said Toyota should be responsible for the repairs he said Not likely.

I have had to repair this every 2 years because of the design flaw that directs the water & dirt into the lock system.

If it is a DESIGN FLAW Toyota should be responsible.

Sequoia Limited 4.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 120,000 miles

Okay, I open the back...a lot, so there is no question I wore it out. But my concern is this...why can't it be opened from INSIDE?

When the latch broke our "repair man" made no mention of a METAL handle fix. (My bro in law found the metal one after the 2nd broke). That one has held up.

LOVE this vehicle! SAFE, comfortable and a great drive even with its issues.

Let me count the times I have had the latch replaced on the back hatch door. Toyota claims that because it is a truck dirt gets in there and causes the cable to snap? Common problem with the Sequoia, have had 4 or 5 latches, almost $500 each time.
