I purchased this 2001 Sequoia brand new and has done well with the exception of the problem I'm having now. My TSC/VSC lights comes on and it the slippery light picture comes on as well. When this happens the brake calipers feel as if they grab hold of the brake drums and pull to one side of the other. Its a very dangerous feeling. With in the passed few months I was told the brake calipers need replaced. So I had them replaced, once they were replaced the Sequoia still had the same reactions.

I took it back 3 times to have it checked out. The first time they replace the right caliper and flushed out all the brake fluid and replaced it; again and it still had the same results. The second time the left caliper was replaced. And the third time I was told they needed to be calibrated.

Finally I took it to the dealership I purchase the vehicle from and I was told by service department that the issue is coming from 1 or 2 issues but they couldn't distinguish which one exactly. Both sensors were very expensive to replace so they suggested I keep driving until it become even worse so they can figure it out. My thought is this 01 Seqouia has been doing this over 2 years and I've been robbed out of money by replacing the calipers and brake fluid and the SUV is still doing the same thing, Even the dealer can't make a decision on which is which. But wants to charge me over 2 thousand to replace 2 sensors which they believe to be the problem but don't know which one it is.

Toyota NEEDS TO DO A RECALL before someone gets killed behind this problem. BTW, I purchased this 01 Sequoia in Chesapeake, Virginia. I just hope and pray my 2010 Toyota Tundra (platinum) don't give me the same problems down the road!

I have noticed many complaints from the 2001 all the way up to 2003 but Toyota only recalled the 2002. It seems that car mileage has to be fairly significant for this problem to surface. At least with mine. Not sure how to fix, how much it will cost, or if Toyota will be contacted. Obviously if there is one year recall but multiple year's of this problem being reported it should be an overall recall for the problem. I'm ready to purchase a new car. Will it be a Toyota? Depends on if I can get this car fixed and sold or have to sell it "as is". Any suggestions?

VERY SCARY SITUATION: VSC/TRAC/SKID control lights come on and you hear a scrubbing/grinding/beeping noise and the vehicle jerks to the right, as if it is in skid control mode but you're losing control. It doesn't matter how fast or slow 20, 45, 70 mph, it will happen.

I have taken my 2001 Toyota Sequoia to the dealership and they can't tell me what the problem is because it hasn't happen while they've had it. It is sporadic. The last time it happened I was traveling from Birmingham, AL to Huntsville, AL (1 1/2 hr drive) doing 70 mph and all of a sudden the skid light came on and the vehicle pulled to the right losing control of the truck. It scared me to death. (this is not the first time that this has happened), but each time it does I am more and more afraid.

I took my car to the dealership back in January 2015 for this problem, and they were supposed to fix it, and about 2 weeks later it happened again while pulling off from someones house (20 mph). After this, it didn't happen again until April 2015, going about 45 mph. The next time is when I mentioned earlier. It scares me so that when it happens I take my foot off the gas and try to control the vehicle....then I drive really slow. It takes me forever to get where I'm going. I did not drive the vehicle again until I dropped it off at the dealership again. They've had had my truck for over a week now.

I have called Toyota Corporate Hqtrs, and its nothing they can do. I found a video online (Youtube) where you can hear and see what is happening to my car. I plan to play this for the dealership because every time I try to get it on video it doesn't happen. I use my truck for so many things; I am always on the road. I'm from Detroit, MI and I like to go home often and travel so I don't like the fact that I can't drive it and feel safe. Luckily I have another vehicle (smaller which is not the same)....if not, what would I do. I explained to Toyota....Do I have to slide off the toad and DIE for someone to do something.

I have searched and searched but have not found any recalls or solutions for this problem, but have read MANY complaints for the same thing. When will TOYOTA do a recall? I plan to file a complaint at www.nhtsa.gov and https://vinrcl.safecar.gov/vin/. Maybe if more people file complaints Toyota will have to do something. My vehicle is NOT under warranty so this is out of pocket for me. I purchased my truck used back in 2008 and never had any problem with it until now. I hope this helps someone, and if you have had the same issues and found a solutions please share........
