Sequoia 4WD 8-cyl

My vehicle is a 2001 Toyota Sequoia with 39000 miles and the air conditioning compressor failed. I brought to the Toyota dealer and the compressor is a dealer only item. Cost of repair is $3140!!!! now I have a $50,000 truck with no air.there is a ntsb out on the truck that should be a recall. The compressor has to be defective.
