Driving one day and started braking. Had the radio off and it was quiet inside the car. As the car slowed and almost near stopping I started to hear a horrible grinding noise coming from the front passenger wheel (or I believe that's where's its coming from). Now I hear it all the time and I only hear it when the car is near stopped or in slow stop and go traffic. It's not extremely loud so that you can hear it no matter what, it just happened to be quiet enough for me to hear it and I believe feel it in my foot (can't be for sure on the foot thing though).

Read a number of forums on this issue and it appears to be one that has occurred to a number of people also and it may not be as simple as a break pad replacement issue. It's also not just a 2002 issue or have anything to do with the car mileage. 9 times out 10 there is also no codes given if you hook up a diagnostic reader. Still trying to determine what the actual problem is as the different forums have given a number of different possibilities. Some of the comments I've read are scary with regard to when and how it happened to that person and what it did to their braking ability when it happened. I'm going to try the brake pad replacement and bleeding the brakes first and see if that takes care of it. My fear is that I'll do this and it still be something else. This could be one of those times where you are trying to find the bad needle in a stack of needles. Hope not but don't know at this point.

Based on Toyota history I was hoping to drive my Sequoia way past 200,000 miles but with the number of things that are starting to pop up now I'm starting to wonder if this is going to be possible.
