My vsc/ABS/skid light up on my dash, stay lit, go off come back on. Sometimes for a few hours sometimes for a few days. I have to replace front brake pads about twice a year. I have had to replace front rotors twice. Traction control kicks in at random times. Rear window motor stopped working. Rear hatch handle broke internally. Tires wear unevenly, even after several alignments. LH power mirror motor stopped working, motor makes clicking sound and will not adjust. Factory dvd player stopped working. The fuel gauge is erratic. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

I own a 2002 Toyota Sequoia 4X2. The vsc/trac lights came on after I had the battery replaced on Dec. 20, 2006. My Toyota specialist could not figure out what the problem was but said that the Sequoia's seem to have multiple problems relating to brakes and computers. I took it to the dealer on Jan. 8, 2007 and they said it has been a common/ongoing problem. Toyota has not recalled this problem though. They could fix the ecc (electrical computer component) at the cost of $1,600. I said no thanks.

I own a '02 Toyota Sequoia with 71,000 miles that is now off factory warranty. My vsc/ABS/skid lights came on and stay on. After taking it to the dealer they advised that the skid control computer and possibly the engine control computer (ecc) required replacing. The vsc alone is $2200. The ABS and vsc systems do not function now and I live in denver, Colorado, where there are frequent snows. My wife and three children use this vehicle everyday and I fear for their safety as she has slid through two stop signs already. I have read that this is a common problem with this year of Sequoia.

ABS vsc trac control system lights come regularly. Before lights come on, systems prevent acceleration for several seconds resulting in potentially dangerous inability to navigate the car. This continually happens.

"vsc trac" dash light flashed intermittently and then stayed lit at 45,000 miles. Per Toyota dealer service department, the vehicle skid control (vsc) computer and steering angle sensor failed. As a result of vsc computer failure, the vehicle's antilock brake system and vehicle skid control system are disabled.

Vsc turns on at low speed and high speed under normal driving conditions. Brakes activate on their own, front end shakes and pulls hard to the right. Almost caused me to drive off the road. Toyota performed an inspection which found nothing. I need to take it in again but this is an unsafe condition and action needs to be taken. Many other seem to have the same problem.

While driving and when depressing the brakes brake pedal is delayed, resulting in extended stopping distance.
- Houston, TX, USA
Vsc frequently activates at low speeds and high speeds under dry conditions. Brakes activate on their own, front end shakes and grinds. Definitely a safety issue. In shop 8 times for same condition without successful repair. Toyota now believes they have solved the problem but has agreed to replace the vehicle at consumers request. Toyota has been diligent in trying to resolve the problem and honorable in reaching a resolve.

Toyota is advising brakes need to be replaced. Car has 260000 miles on it and is 1yr old. Have complained about brake issue to Toyota at 15000 miles. No solution Toyota did nothing. Brakes make grinding noise like gravel. Also the vsc system engages and does not take power from drive train, result in very loud metal shearing noises from undercarriage. Toyota is saying this is normal. Toyota is advising the avg life of brakes on this car is approx 20000 miles there is a major design error between the vcs and the ABS brake system resulting poor brake life and this can not be a safe situation when vsc does not release power to brakes when it activates. Vcs also activates at drop of a hat. General brake design must have major design flaw if avg life is only 20000 miles.

Consumer states that the vehicle would vibrate when applied the brakes, dealer has been notified and replaced rotors, two weeks later consumer states has the same problem and dealer inspected and can correct the problem.
