Got off freeway and came to stop and engine died. Started car back up, but when putting it into gear, it dies. Could it be a sensor or the transmission??

my Toyota sequoia died on me as i was going home. It will start but when you try to put it into another gear it dies. I''ve phoned the local Toyota company they charge a fee just to tell you what wrong and it normally something they can only repair because they have special tools. The repairs ore very expensive

The 00-02 Sequoia's have bad transmissions. Toyota is very well aware of this. Any Google search can confirm both statements. Toyota is being dishonest in not fixing their problem. Toyota denies there is any problem. Toyota needs to fix this problem, or I will never buy a Toyota again. I am not going to spend tens of thousands of dollars and be treated like a chump. I would rather see Toyota go out of business.

Exited the 10 FWY and came to a stop, the car shut off. Put it in park and started the car up, but as soon as I put it into gear the car died.. some how got the car moving and got to my sisters house and got the car towed to my mechanic. He told me that the throttle body sensor and the peddle sensor had to be replaced. I had to take it to the dealer for this and they wanted to replace the transmission for the tune of $4,000.00. I called my mechanic and told him the story and he advised me to tell them to replace only the sensors. He also told me that if it was a transmission issue the engine will still run even though the transmission is dead. The car is still at the dealer.... hopefully my mechanic is right ( I will write a follow-up after I get the car). I used to trust and bought ONLY Toyota cars... I have had nothing but problems with the Sequoia and the 2004 Tundra that I own..(They used the left over parts from the Pre-runner). Since 2004 I have replaced the brakes on the truck 5 times already.. I will be trading these pieces of JUNK for Chevy trucks... At least chevy gives you a 100,000 mile warranty on the transmission.

Driving on the freeway getting ready to exit so I slow down and the engine dies try to start its fine but when put it on gear the engine dies and the only way to make it run if you step up the gas at least up to 2000rpm while shifting but will die again once you slow down or hit the brakes and also their is no engine light on so my scanner wont pick up the problem have it towed to the dealer and couple hours later not knowing the dealer cannot duplicate the problem so they told me fuel injection system is dirty so they fix it and it run ok so I took it home but 2 months later came back but luckily I was able to make it run after 3 trys then my truck went back to normal again then after 4000 mile after I have it fix from the dealer the first time the problem went back again and until now I wont be able to make it run again will start normally but its just keep on dying everytime i shift to gear it has very low milage 58000 and its been 1 yr and half i havent use my truck.
