2003 Toyota Sequoia, vsc and ABS lights came on and off several times @ 20K miles and now @ 80K miles. First time @ 20 K miles, dealer didn't find any problem so they said I might forget to tighten the gas cap...but now after 5 years, the vsc and ABS light started popping up again when I was driving 60 mile/hour, I have brought the ca to dealer and this time they have charged me almost $ 500 to get these lights came off including a series of unnecessary parts replacing and tune up. Less than one month, these lights - vsc and ABS came on again, brought back to dealer, they said it failed for another code which require another $ 500 to get it fixed. I was frustrated so I took the car back home, but I still feel unsafe when driving it. I think Toyota should consider this issue and recall since so many customers have reported a similar issue - vsc and ABS light intermittent issue.

We own a toyata Sequoia ltd 2003 model year. We took the vehicle several times to the dealer regarding braking issue. If we ever used the emergency brake, for some reason the right side front and rear brakes will start to lock up, that would shake the SUV and we had to pull over. The dealer never determined what the problem was even though we ended up paying for repairs that never made a difference. Eventually we stopped using the emergency brake on our vehicle, that also stopped the right side wheels from locking up. During this period the car parked in our driveway also crashed into our garage and broke the garage doors. With emergency brakes on and in park, middle of the night we there was a loud bang, the SUV had crashed into the garage; even though the SUV was in park position gear and with emergency brakes on.

Control panel dash 'brake' icon keeps coming on intermittently. The only way to get the brake icon on the dash panel not to illuminate is to turn the ignition off. The brake icon illuminates again after driving anywhere between a couple of miles to thousands of miles. A couple of Toyota dealerships could not find any problem with the vehicle. The last time the brake icon illuminated, I drove it to the nearest Toyota dealership and they plugged in a computer analyzer while the brake light was on and the computer did not find any problems (no error codes). This has been going on since I had 20000 miles. I am now at 128,000 miles.

ABS, vsc/trac lights are "on" all came up at the same time. It was a rainy day in houston, tx. Had to run 55mph at 65mph speed limit due to rain for safety pre-caution. At the time I reached my work place (approx 10miles from my residence), all 3-lights (ABS, vsc, trac) turned on. I am the 2nd owner of this vehicle, acquired it from Toyota dealer 15 October 2009. With this incident, got curious of any recalls, complaints or issues with 2003 Sequoia. Unfortunately, I just realized that I am among owners having the same issues.

I own a 2003 Toyota Sequoia SR5 with 95000 miles. Vsc, trac, and ABS lights came on. Dealership said that the codes are faulty ECU. Cost of repair was $1700. The following week lights came back on. This time they tell me it is a faulty speed sensor on the front right. They recalibrated the vehicle and said if it comes back the cost of the repair is $400. Following week, the lights come on, same code for the speed sensor, so I have it replaced. Two days later, the lights are back on. Not certain what will code this time. After reading several posts online, it looks like this is a recurring issue with this vehicle. So, I'm filing a complaint sense there hasn't been a recall.

ABS skid control (ECU) and booster assembly malfunction. Dealer reports this as a safety concern that should not be happening and seems to be a pattern and concern yet Toyota refuses to address the issue.

My Sequoia 2003 with 31,000 miles, it showed brake light on. So I thought the brake pads need to be changed so I did. But the light still came on and off some days. About 4 weeks after, vsc lights and ABS lights came on so I took it to the dealer and was told that the computer unit for tracking must be replaced and would cost me part and labor $1650. Dealer pulled up codes C1241, C1231, C1223, and C1203. It seems from multiple identical complaints, Toyota has made a faulty part and should make the recall for the safety of the customer.

The brake light on my 2003 Toyota Sequoia has been recently coming on. I took it in for new bake pads and turned out I needed new rotors too. Not more than 18 hours later the light is still coming on?? I had a similar problem with the ABS light coming on very frequently and had new brake pads put in, a new censor, and still nothing. Finally after I had taken it in on that ball joint recall, the light has never been on again. I really don't feel comfortable driving my kids around with a bright red "brake!" light on.
