While driving my 2003 Sequoia on vacation, a part fell off from the bottom of the car. We took the car to a local mechanic who raised it on a lift and said that the part was the protective plate covering the gas tank. It had eroded off. He said worse than that, the entire frame was rusting and rotting out and felt that the car would be unsafe within the next year or 2.

The vsc track and engine lights came on at the same time at exactly 108,000 miles. This has been a very reliable vehicle except when it seems the computer parts are programmed to fail. I use to commute in heavy slow traffic in southern California when my brake light would come on when using the brakes in traffic. The dealer could not find a problem.. the brake light will go off after the key is turned off and back on again however the vsc/track light still on appear T be a computer defect. I see many problems with this could lead to vehicle tipping big problem maybe this issue is related to Toyota vehicles super accelerating just a thought!

While driving, the owner smelled gas fumes from inside the vehicle. The fumes seemed to be coming from the vents. When the window was opened the smell became worse. The fumes made the owner nauseas which also caused her asthma to flare up. The consumer called the dealership, but nothing was corrected.. the dealership informed the consumer the reason she was smelling gas fumes was because she was using 89 octane gas instead of 87 octane and the computer was programmed for 87 octane.
