Check engine light come on. Along with 2 other lights. This has occurred over 10 to 12 times since owning this SUV. Each time it is noted on my paper work no leaks found and gas cap replaced. I have spent each time on a average $578 at least for a gas cap after they have checked out the car. I even had this problem when the car was under warranty but of course no charge then. I notice other Toyota vehicles have recall on this check engine lights. I think the Sequoia should get included in this it is the same thing. I can only imagine how much money owners of these SUVS have paid out because of this. I notice this check engine light came on after I put gas in. The light will not go off until you take in it in to the dealership who then charges you the $578 or more it simply ripping the consumer off

The driver seat belt wont go in so I cant wear a seatbelt, the vsc trac and check enginine light goes off and on and the brakes slip

Date and mileage above are approximate. While accelerating on an up inclined entrance ramp to the ben franklin bridge in philadelphia, the engine lost speed and the vehicle quickly slowed. No one was behind me so there was minimal danger. The behavior was similar to snow/ice skid control whereby the engine decouples and the accelerator pedal becomes useless. After about 5 seconds power returned. On 6/24/2014 (mileage 165,400) my brake light came on. I coincidentally had an 5,000 mile service appointment today (6/24/2014) and the diagnosis was a code C1247 - ABS ECU (computer) is failing. The mechanic explained that the ECU had failing circuits, or failing solder connections. A little internet research suggested that the unit might simply have logic problems. The mechanic advised that when the brake light is on, all skid control and ABS functionality is gone. As the light was on for a short period of time, and is now off I am going to see how the vehicle performs and if safety is effected.

The contact owns a 2004 Toyota Sequoia. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the brake was engaged however, the vehicle hesitated and exhibited a loud noise before stalling. The traction control, brake and check engine warning lights all illuminated after the failure occurred. The vehicle was restarted and the traction control and brake warning lights remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who performed a diagnostic, locating the failure at the wheel speed sensor, the ECU, engine control module and the ABS control system. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 113,761.
