I bought a Toyota Sequoia 2005 back in 2010. Today, when I was driving on the street and turned on the left light signal with less than 15 mph while using the brake, I heard a very loud grinding noise and that instantly I saw all 3 signs ( trac off, vsc trac, brake ) on at the same time. I am almost out of breath and scared to death. The signs (trac off, vsc trac, brake ) once in a while appeared in the past and disappeared by themselve and I did not have any serious problems in the past, but today the car just acted like a dead car at that momentarily. I was so scared and scared.
Something is got to be DONE!! before somebody get hurt!!!!!!!!!

Sept 16, 2014, I purchased a 2 owner, clean Carfax 2005 Toyota Sequoia SR5 4WD from Auction Direct in Raleigh, NC. Very clean car, quiet running, nice test drive. At that time, I mentioned the alignment seemed off. They did an adjustment. However, after a few weeks it was still a problem pulling slightly to the right with a shimmy at higher speeds (65mph+). Being covered under the 30 day warranty, I took it back to Auction Direct.
On my way to the dealer, while waiting in the drive through of a Wendy's, the brakes began slowly pulsing on their own under my foot. I thought that was very strange but didn't know if that was standard for Toyota since I hadn't had the vehicle very long. About a mile down the road, the brake light came on. Luckily, I was only a few miles from the dealership. I told them about the problem. Since they didn't know how long it would take to fix, they gave me a loaner car. About a week went by and I finally called to see what the status was. They indicated that they had to take it to the Toyota dealer to pinpoint the issue. After a week and a half, they told me that Toyota found the problem and they are replacing the Master cylinder, sensors, and some other things to the tune of $4200 luckily covered under the 30 day Auction Direct warranty. I do not have a complete list of all the items replaced yet as I still don't have the vehicle back.
After reading all these car complaints regarding the brakes on Toyota models, it is very frightening to realize what could happen as a result of this problem. I will update this post when I receive the complete list of repairs done next week when I get the Sequoia back.

Like many other Sequoias (ours is a 2005) the VCS lights come on for no apparent reason and then the brakes do a strange grinding sound when I am not trying to stop the car. It is very scary as the car is braking on it's own. Obviously has something to do with VCS because every time it has done it the VCS lights are on. It has happened to us three times in the last year. It is very random and very scary. Anyone know the fix. We had Toyota look at it but because they could not recreate it they did nothing.
