  • 106,000 miles
The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Sequoia. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph, the accelerator pedal became stuck causing an increase of speed up to 80 mph. The brakes and traction control warning lights illuminated. The contact mentioned that the brake pedal had to be depressed continuously in order to stop the vehicle. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 10V017000 (vehicle speed control). The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the failure was due to the floor mat becoming stuck under the accelerator pedal. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 106,000. The VIN was not available. Updated 01/27/16 the consumer stated attempts to utilize the brake were met with a hard brake that appeared fully engaged into the floor board. The brake pedal finally released and the accelerator pedal began to return to its normal position and the vehicle stopped accelerating. Updated 02/09/16
