This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Toyota dealer.
I DIDN'T KNOW THIS WAS SUCH A PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA SIENNA DRIVER'S DOOR UNTIL I CHECKED YOUR WEBSITE. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT TOYOTA WOULD IGNORE SUCH A PROBLEM AREA, THAT THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN CORRECTED.

Come to find out that there was a "Enhanced Warranty" but was never informed about the service bulletin. The bulletin states that its only warranty, if the customer mentions it specifically.

2004 Toyota Sienna fractured defective left front door check pocket popping noise

Are you kidding me? Not even domestics have the doors fall off. Absolutely ridiculous that Toyota has quoted my upwards of $5000 to fix faulty build. Heard that one can get a bolt on either side to hold it together, or get a welder to fix without paint, but it is unreal that this should have to be done in the first place.

I bought the extended warranty 5years/100,000 for $2,000.00 when I purchased the vehicle. The problem occurred under 100,000 miles, but over 5 years. I realized the warranty would not cover the repair, but I was told by the collision center who did the repair, that the metal was not strong enough to support the door. It seems to me that it was a design flaw, and should have been a recall. The collision center, also told me that some vans came in with the doors falling off. How safe do you feel in a vehicle where the door can fall off? Needless to say that will be my first and last Toyota.

Having already taken this to the body shop to repair, the mechanic/staff mentioned that this was the 3rd or 4th Sienna with the same problem. I own a Avalon and have owned two Tundras, and two Camry's - I still love Toyota's but this is not typical. For this, I'm submitting my first complaint after 17 years of driving the best built vehicles on the road today.

Striker receiver door weld broken on drivers door. Dealer stated my vehicle was not part of recall for this issue. Other Siennas were recalled for this model year, but not mine. Toyota customer service said warranty was extended to 5yr/100k for this issue. They cannot help me since my mileage is above 100k. Dealer states door will likely need to be replaced if the weld can not be repaired.
I am amazed that a weld can simply break. It is disconcerting that this could happen. I am disappointed that a Toyota could have an issue like this. I have NEVER heard of a spot weld breaking. Corrosion is not an issue here. Poor construction is. Toyota brags in their adds of how strong the welds are in their Tundra trucks. Maybe they should start producing the Sienna on the Tundra production line.
I am also amazed that the entire door might have to be replaced.

The defective welding won't cause door to fail off, but it can cause door to swing open further than expected cause harm or damage.

Popping noise, utilized white lithium to resolve problem but annoyance still persisted over the past couple of months. During my recent Service Appointment for spare tire cable replacement(recall), I mentioned repair needed on door. My dealership informed me that the welds had failed and warranty repair had expired. Driving 125,000+ miles and owning the vehicle over 5yrs created the unforeseen problem?
Anyway, dealership referred me to a reputable body shop in the area but at this time I declined due to unnecessary $$$ to be spent on an obvious manufacturer defect. If safety is an issue, this will be repaired. - RP Ohio (Loyal Toyota Owner...)

When closing the driver's door it makes two very loud thumps. Very annoying and am concerned the cause of the noise is doing more damage to the interior of the door.

Driver Side Doors started making noise while opening and close as if something getting popped off and popped in or something is broken in the hinge mechanism. I haven't take it to anywhere yet. Before buying this used this Toyota Sienna 2004 as a used car I did research online and from Odyssey and Toyota I picked Toyota because of relatively less major complains. However, now I think they are going to tie with each other soon. Beside this problem I have noticed a new shaking problem that occurs occasionally while braking (slowing down from above 45 miles per hour speed).

I have a 2004 toyota van that I purchased when I retired. It is six years old and has 101 thousand miles on it. Recently the piece on the door that holds the door open broke loose from the weld. Note: not a screw, not a part worn out, but the weld that held the part on. I talked to the local dealer and got no help. I talked to two people at corp., Keisha and Emmanuel, who were absolutely no help. I ask Emmanuel if I could talk to his boss and he told me he was corporate and I could not go any higher than him. I talked with a mechanic at the dealership here and he said they were having this problem with a lot of the vans and it was not uncommon at all. He also said the entire door had to be replaced at the cost of over $1,500 . I have purchased three Toyotas in the past but no more. No wonder so many recalls. They have not got the quality they used to have nor the customer relationships that they used to enjoy. No more Toyotas in my driveway in the future. This is my last one.

Driver side door check strap failure. Toyota recognized problem. Issued a letter to owners in November 2007 and again in March 2008. Problem not addressed by dealership on visit 1/30/2008. Door at that time making a clunking sound. Dealer offered to have body shop spot weld door at an estimated cost of $900.00. Elected to not spend that kind of money to repair door check. The spot weld went on to total failure. Visit to another Toyota dealership 5/25/2008 with same complaint. Told that they were sorry the car is now out of warranty with 122864 miles. Nothing they are willing to do.

Every door clip on both doors have broken over time. Literally every clip. The doors are held together with duct tape. Toyota has stated it is not covered under warranty and they refuse to assist me.

Poor design. They have replaced the rear door struts twice (under recall). Battery was spec'd too small, always had problems with battery going dead until I bought a bigger battery. Trim peices (grab handles by door falling off).
First and last Toyota bought...

As Murphy's Law would have it, the spot welds on the driver's side door failed just outside the extended warranty period. I see half a dozen other complaints on this same issue. I have yet to take the car in for repair, but not that I realize the cost could be a couple of thousand dollars, I am looking for other options besides replacing the door and complaining to the dealer which in the past has proved to be a waste. If anyone has come up with a reliable repair, I would like to hear about it.

I've never had welds fail on a vehicle in my life. Thankfully I bought an extended warranty even though I was buying a Toyota for its reliability. Tack welding the strap did not hold, and the entire door had to be replaced. Imagine, having to replace the whole door on a vehicle because some little tack welds failed.

Re-welding does not help. Door must be replaced with one that is bolted to a plate rather than welded. Toyota dealer offered no assistance whatsoever. Fidelity (platinum extended warranty) initially denied claim as well under the provision that excludes hinges. I explained to them that replacing the hinges would do nothing to resolve the problem and when they couldn't cite any other provision under which they could deny coverage they finally paid to replace the driver side door. Toyota definitely knows this is a common problem. They offered me no help, and even told me not to expect my extended warranty to cover it either. They offered nothing at all.

So we bought this vehicle used and when we got it it was making a noise as the arm would extend when you would open and close the door. 3 years went by and one day I got in the car and hit the button to roll the window down and the window was hitting something inside the door so it would not roll all the way down. We took the door apart to see what was causing it. This arm being defective has tore the metal around it that it is bolted onto in the door frame and caused the arm to go inside of the door when the door is closed. You can roll the window down when the door is open but not when it is closed. We have not had this replaced but I see other complaints about this problem.
