Among other major electrical issues (about which I am giving the benefit of the doubt to Toyota, because we did buy the van used with an aftermarket backup camera already installed, and apparently whoever put it in was an incompetent moron that totally screwed up the wiring for the whole car), the battery drains constantly. I've replaced the battery several times and have had to resort to carrying a portable jumper in the car at all times, because I never know when I will try to start it and find that it's completely dead. It's a known issue that the battery protection system that is supposed to be in place only works under very specific conditions, but the battery slowly dies over time even if there is nothing that should be draining it. I had the backup camera removed (super expensive) and then still had major electrical problems (headlights would not turn off, interior lights would not come on with the driver door open, alarm randomly went off, etc.) and had the car re-wired (even more expensive). The major issues seem to be gone now, but the battery still drains. Sometimes it will barely start if I've had the doors open (and thus interior lights on) for more than a minute or two, but sometimes it's just been sitting overnight with everything off and still just barely turns over.

Just like the previous writer, Lisa, I have a 2004 Sienna and about every 6-8 months the car won't start on its own but will quickly with a jump. I've told the dealer every time and they seem to fix it but don't tell me how. Once they told me to change the battery, the problem stopped for a while. Then they told me to change the started, and whatever else they did, and now I've got the problem again.
