Sienna LE 3.3L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 130,000 miles

Dash started cracking (possibly due to low-quality materials). Cracks start small but expand to the entire length of the dashboard within a few months. I would strongly recommend investing in a dashboard cover or enclosed parking garage space. Keep out of direct sunlight!

I never knew and was never inform that there was a recall on this model dash in spite of me servicing my vehicle at a Toyota dealer for so many years. I need to know what can be done to resolve this problem.

Overall, my Toyota sienna has been good. The cracking, sticky dashboard is getting worse. All they will tell me at the dealer( Tejas Toyota) is more dashboards need to be ordered. For what I couldn't find out. At first, they were going to replace immediately. Then they said 2 months. Then it was 6 months to a year. I'm wondering if Toyota will ever accept responsibility. In the mean time the dash is getting worse. I park the car in the attached garage.

The dash frightens me that it will pop off. It is cracked straight across the entire dash board. They promised us in January that they would replace it in 3 months. That was 10 months ago and still no replacement.

I received a letter in the mail stating that there was an issue with the cracking dashboards. I wasn't able to get the dealer to schedule the replacement due the part not being available.

Sienna LX 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 45,000 miles

Dash board started cracking 4 years ago and now getting bigger and bigger every day/week. Received a letter from Toyota for replacement back in February/March 2015 and asked to wait for the next letter when to call the dealer to get fixed (letter say in May 2015) but still waiting. Contacted dealer and answer was to wait for the next letter. I am tired of this and thinking to get done myself. It is spreading dangerously everywhere.

Sienna LC 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 55,000 miles

It started with very small crack in the left corner of the dash back 2011. The dealer said that it was not covered by the warranty. The crack start to grow and now the dash look like a tree, with cracks all over. I had a 2006 Corolla and the dash is perfect. I'm assuming that Toyota built the Sienna with a very cheap poor quality product, and customers deserve a fix to this annoying issue.

Sienna

Obviously, the deteriorating dashboard issue has become a significant problem with Toyota vehicles. We own a 2006 Sienna, with just over 100K miles, but my research indicates that this is a problem with many models of the same year. Our dashboard is literally falling apart. We keep this vehicle in the garage and never use any cleaners, other than a damp cloth. There are huge cracks from one end to the other and the dash has become sticky. In comparison, we also own a 2004 Corolla which has a nearly immaculate dashboard, and is always in the sun. We've contacted our dealership and they basically denied that this is a problem and claimed that never even heard of such an issue. They suggested that it was probably our fault and that we obviously overuse cleaners. Again, we've never used cleaners on this dash. We proceeded to contact Toyota directly, which was basically as waste of time. They verified that there is no recall on this problem and also claimed that they have never heard of this being a problem as well. Has anyone had any resolution on this?

So far there are about 4 long cracks in the dash, in various places. Seems to be focused around the far left side and around the glove box.

Sienna LX V6

The interior of my Sienna is in excellent condition except for several cracks in the dashboard.....we always use a sun shield to protect it. But it is now developing these ugly cracks which make it look old and used. It still runs good and we intend on keeping it, but I don't like the way it looks. What kind of defective material are they using? I think they should have to replace the dashboard and find better material or the next time I buy a vehicle it won't be a Toyota!

Sienna XLE 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 58,300 miles

Auto makers have been producing vehicles with filled vinyl dashboards for many years, now.

When they first appeared, they were terrible, and deteriorated quickly.

Now, however, most manufacturers appear to be able to produce product which is adequate for it's intended use and service. Apparently Toyota did not get the memo that dashboards should NOT crack.

As mature as this technology is, I believe there is NO EXCUSE for this type of defect. EVER.

I will not buy another Toyota because of it.

Sienna LS 3.2L V6

I have always armorall-ed the interior with dull sheen and then I seen the monster cracks and it's not on the top of the dash it's in places that you would think it would never crack. This is very expensive problem to fix and I believe that it is a manf. defect and Toyota should do a recall on this and foot the bill. I see now that I am not the only one with this problem. Right now I'm not so sure that I would buy another Toyota because of this inferior interior.

dash is cracking dash is cracking dash is cracking

This is the type of problem that will keep me from ever buying Toyota again. No service at the Maui Toyota, they have no idea what to do except hand you a bill. Bad workmanship, poor quality, awful. Why should a dashboard crack? I have armour-all'd it and it's been parked in a garage since the day I bought it. I'm a Realtor and a nice car is part of the business, can't use it anymore, it's an embarrassment.

I have a 56 Chevy which has always had a perfect dashboard - never a crack or problem and I drove it in the 70's at college. Still nice today and it hasn't been restored.

What can I do, except replace it with another dashboard from Toyota?? That's throwing good money after bad and the chance I would spend another penny on anything Toyota is highly unlikely.

Toyota needs to step up and fix this problem. They won't because it isn't currently a safety issue. The best way Toyota to prevent this kind of problem is to do quality work from the start. Obviously something this company doesn't care to do.

Good job Toyota you just lost a cash buyer!!

I found out that there was a crack on my sienna dashboard last week. It is about 2 inches and it is getting bigger. I hate this because my car is still beautiful. I think this is a manufacture problem and the company must be responsible for this problem. I love my toyota and I tell my family members and friends to buy a toyota. I hope that somebody can help me to fix this problem.
