Last night as I was driving home on the freeway, my cars navigation system, in addition to the radio/dvd/cd system, shut down showing a black screen. As I kept driving, the side lights (but not the screen) would briefly come on and then turn off again. It did that at least 6 times. Everything else works fine, (e.g., lights, air conditioning, signals, etc.), but I have no music and no dvd player. My car is not that old and I keep it in mint condition! for it to have turned off like that is baffling, especially since I just had it totally serviced last month, as I do every year. The dealer, without having seen it, quoted an astronomical amount for something that could quite possibly be a fuse problem or a loose connection somewhere within the system. Anyway, that's my problem.

Master head unit, including navigation, rear camera, bluetooth, and stereo, stopped working. It makes a clicking noise but the screen is dead and does not respond at all. Appears to be from a design defect that causes overheating of the unit over time. Multiple reports of similar failures are all over the internet. This is a significant safety issue as the rear camera, bluetooth, and navigation are all important items for extra safety in operating the vehicle. I think most people would expect that a non-mechanical part (like the radio/head unit) would last longer than 6 years, especially when it cost several thousand dollars.
