This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Toyota dealer.
There should be a recall. Will NEVER buy another Toyota again. Only 1 month over the warranty and they won't fix it even though the problem occurred before and the light went off on its own. This car is putting my two young daughters in jeopardy. I bought this car for reliability. I was wrong for sure.

Luckily, the air bag light came on just before the warranty was up. Not long after getting it fixed, the airbag light came on again and the dealership said there was no warranty remaining. Didn't bother to pay to get it fixed.

Concerned that the airbags might no worked. Came across complaints on the WEB from owners of the same year, make and model and their vans are doing the same thing. Only have 30,000 miles on vehicle and warranty no longer covers. Bought this vehicle new in January of 2007. Keep watching to see if Toyota does a recall.
Update from Sep 15, 2010: Airbag sensor light continues to stay on, has not gone off since first complaint

I was in the process of purchasing a one owner well taken care of 2006 Toyota Sienna XLE, and noticed that the airbag light was on. The car was being purchased through my credit union which meant that issue had to be corrected prior to purchase. The Toyota dealer informed us that there was a "campaign" not a "recall" to resolve this issue which required the wiring harness to be replaced. This work was completed by the Toyota dealer at no cost to myself or the credit union. I noticed there were several complaints concerning this same issues with other Sienna owners and just wanted to let you know that Toyota is doing the right thing by their customers and taking care of this issue.
