The dealer said it is peeling due to a chemical spill such as the plug in auto air freshener. It started last year with the heat button peeling and the dealer was going to replace it and had ordered the part. Now almost a year latter it is not covered and the part never came in due to the disaster in Japan. The vent above the button on the passenger side appears to be faded too. It has a rough feeling when touched. The easy excuse is to say a chemical caused it, but I have not used any auto air freshener that plugs onto the vent which could have caused such a thing to happen. I think it is a defect in the dash board or maybe sun damage. I was told by the dealer to go threw my auto insurance since it would cost $850 to replace them. Has anyone else had this problem?
