In January 2015, we were told that our 2011 Michelin tires were worn and needed to be replaced. We had barely 30k on the tires and had purchased 60k tires. Michelin agreed to replace the tires for us and we had them put on in February 2015. I took the van in for brakes and was told that my front tires were wearing excessively. I barely have 11k miles on since getting tires in February. I have been reading online that it is a design issue with Toyota 3Gen Siena's. I don't have money to replace the tires again and have 3 little kids I haul around in my van. I am going to get the alignment checked and the suspension as well, but if this is a design flaw, I wish Toyota would do something about it.

My wife's 2011 Sienna XLE was originally equipped with Firestone FR710 tires bought new from Heyward Allen Toyota in Athens, GA. After about 14k miles started noticing quick shoulder wear on the front tires. Tires had already been rotated twice by the dealer but at 17k they shoulders were gone and I noticed the cord showing through. My wife is a stay at home wife and generally only drives to the school, grocery store and gym. I brought the issue up to the dealer and the service rep told me "not to expect more than 20-25k out of any tire on a Sienna". I had them check the alignment and it was ok. Since the cord was showing I immediately replaced the tires with Goodyear Assurance Comfort Treads and have about 500 miles on the new tires. The Goodyear dealer checked the alignment again and again it was fine. The Goodyear dealer, Bass-Mims Goodyear in Athens, GA told me the same thing about the Siennas wearing tires out quickly. I am going to give the Sienna one chance with a good set of tires and if it eats these tires I will be going to the cheapest tire WalMart sells. This issue is an ongoing issue according to some sites I have visited online and a real disappointment that Toyota does not seem to want to resolve with their vehicles.

I replaced the stock tires on my Sienna LE FW vehicle with Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires. They now have 15,650 miles on them. They have been rotated every 5K-6K miles. The vehicle was dealer aligned the day after the tires were installed. The tires were purchased and installed at Sams. I took the Sienna to Sams complaining that the tires were prematurely wearing. At the time the tech measured a variance of 2-4/16ths on the front, and a 4-5/16ths on the rear. He told me because of the wear pattern, he could do nothing and suggested I see my dealer. Since an oil change was due, I took it to Molle Toyota in KC, MO. It was there that I was told that I should never expect more than 30K miles on any type of tire on my Sienna. He said I should expect no more than another 5K on my Michelins. A quick check of the alignment had everything in the green. He said the tire wear was even. I could not believe that I would only get 30K miles on any tire. So, I went to another Toyota dealer, Olathe Toyota, KS (where I purchased the vehicle.) Without even looking at my tire, the Service Rep re-stated what I heard...don't expect more than 30K on my Sienna tires. I was livid...The manager then talked to me. He agreed I had premium tires on the vehicle, but said Siennas and HighLanders just "didn't like tires". He suggested I call Toyota Customer Service which I did that afternoon. After a 30 minute conversation(!), I was told nothing could be done. If I wanted to have the alignment rechecked and the suspension checked at my expense, and something was found, then Toyota would consider something.

I am a very conservative driver...average speed = 25mph; 19.8 mpg.

Has anyone else run into this kind of problem? Any suggestions? I like the vehicle a lot, but I can't afford to allocate $300-$400 per year on tires. Any help would be appreciated.
