windshield cracked on its own windshield cracked on its own windshield cracked on its own windshield cracked on its own windshield cracked on its own windshield cracked on its own

I woke up one morning to find my back windshield completely shattered! I went through all the possibilities in my mind. How, Who, What? When? I just concluded a kid problem threw a rock. So I took it to get replaced. The very next day I took it to get cleaned as it has gotten dusty driving it without the windshield. The glue they used is a 30 min set so I was clear to get it cleaned. While the young man was wiping my windshield, right under his hand, the windshield shattered, completely startling him poor guy. He called me from the waiting room and explained what had happened. The manager offered to pay for the replacement and told me to go back with the receipt for the reimbursement. At this point I was just in shock and disbelief, and extremely inconvenience by it. What the heck was going on.

I explained it to the man who had repaired the glass. He agreed to replace it at no cost. He then explained it could possibly be the heat component shorted so he didn't plug the glass into the plug just in case that was the concern. I went home, parked my van, just for safe measure.

I didn't want to have it cleaned for a few days just in case. I went to bed, woke up to find it shatter AGAIN. what is going on? This has to be a manufactory defect. I have had no accidents or damage ever, I cant understand what is going on. The weird thing is that it shatters outward like it is bursting out. The glass falls out not in.

I am so beside myself. Will I be safe even if I get it repaired can I be putting my children in danger if I drove them in the vehicle? I have no other means of transportation I need to live.... I am so beside myself..

After about 6.5 years of owning the Toyota Sienna, the windshield cracked at the bottom on the passenger side. This wasn't from a stone or anything hitting it. It was a clear sunny day on an open road with no other vehicles for about 1/2 mile in either direction. We had had some cold weather and it was warming quickly. Only guess is that the expansion of the glass must not have been at the same rate of the expansion of the material it is glued to. The crack continues to grow slowly, but is not in the driver's field of vision yet.
