Brakes intermittently slip while providing constant pressure at lower speeds. The car will lurch forward while brake pedal is depressed and vehicle is slowing down then will go back to stopping.

When braking while turning on a freeway exit ramp, the car sometimes briefly "surges." It feels like the brake briefly stops working before being applied more firmly than before. This happens at least a couple of times per week.

On a regular basis when applying the brakes the brake pressure will release causing the vehicle to lunge forward or momentarily stop decelerating. This release of the brake pressure is only for a second but during that time the van will stop or slow decelerating and if you are slow when this happens you will feel the van lunge forward. It has even happened at a stop with the brake applied and the van would move slightly forward as the pressure released and then reapplied. It almost feels like a computer signal is being reset when this happens causing the momentary release of pressure.

While braking at around 15 mph there is a sudden loss of braking force that causes the car to surge forward. This happens as the car switches from regenerative braking to pad braking. It has almost caused an accident a few times for me.

I have a 2022 Toyota Sienna and have noticed that when I am braking (especially at low speeds while stopping at a STOP sign or a Red Light),the car "lurches" forward as if the car is accelerating a little bit. I have to slam the brakes to stop the vehicle. It feels really dangerous - it might hit a car in front or a kid in a neighborhood! I will reading through Toyota Sienna forums and found scores of similar incidents reported! Hope Toyota takes notice and fixes this.

This Hybrid LE model brake system is very poor. If we press the break pedal it stops 5-10 meter far. Urgently need for recall and rectify this major issue to avoid more accidents and property damage to others on the road.

Experienced it a number of times intermittently. When making a stop from about 25-30 mph, just before making a full stop (~10mph) while foot on the break, the vehicle lunge for a split second. The feeling of loss of braking power. At number of times, I thought I was going to rear end the veh in front of me. The last time I experienced it was last Aug 7.

The brakes in my 2022 Sienna Hybrid XLE randomly slip when stopping. It happens rarely, but is completely unexpected when it does and I can't reproduce it on demand. It feels like I've hit a small patch of black ice or released my foot from the brake for a split second (when I didn't!). My husband rarely drives the van, and it happened to him yesterday. Last week it 'released' for the longest it's ever done, maybe a full second or more. It is summer here and I was driving on normal pavement, so there is no reason that I shouldn't have been in full control of the stop! Thankfully there wasn't anything in front of me, but if it were a different situation it could have been VERY BAD.

I bought this van new in March 2022. Since I have owned it I have had countless instances where I will have my brakes applied and the van will suddenly accelerate with the brake still applied. This has happened multiple times when I am braking on hills & I have nearly ran stop signs because of it, there are some dangerous intersections I travel frequently and this is a major safety concern. This needs to be addressed by Toyota or someone is going to end up killed or seriously injured in an accident from this malfunction. I am truly concerned for mine and my children-??s safety when I am traveling in my van. I can-??t trade it in because I still owe more than trade in value and can-??t afford to be upside down. NHTSA please help me.

When coming to a slowdown at the light, lightly braking to a slow, the brakes would suddenly disengage and the car lunges forward, I have to release an reapply the pedal in order for braking to stop. This has happened multiple times, but the most recent, I almost ran into the person in front of me because the brakes disengaged. It doesn-??t happen all the time, but every once in a while with unknown parameters, it happens and is very scary. I drive with a lot of fear now, especially with my kids in the car.

When pressing the brakes car will lunge forward. Used to happen very rarely and now it is happening sometimes multiple times a trip. Pulling in a parking space or stopping at a light and almost hitting the car in front of me because the car just lunges forward. No warning lights or messages it just randomly happens.

Sometimes when I apply the brakes, usually for more than a few seconds, the brakes feel like they release on their own. The car will lurch forward and I have to firmly push the brake pedal harder, in order to regain braking power. This happens randomly but on multiple occasions on a weekly basis.

Occasionally, if I drive over uneven surface or make a turn while breaking, then the brake lets up for a second and the car lurches forward. This has happened probably probably 5-6 times a month for the past 7 months we've owned the car. We live near some hills, so it most often occurs when going downhill and I'm breaking at/below residential speeds. After the second of letting up, the break resumes as normal. My husband has also had this issue happen to him, although only once because he drives it less often. -The car is available for inspection on request. -So far, there haven't been any related accidents because I've never been in an emergency breaking situation. -The problem has not been confirmed by an independent service center. Before we purchased the car, we had a Toyota Dealer mechanic (who was not connected to the dealership selling the car) do a routine inspection and said the breaks were in good shape. Because the break issue only happens in certain conditions, we did not notice the break issue until after the car was purchased. -The car hasn't been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance, etc. -There have been no warnings or other symptoms.

In 2023, I purchased a used 2022 Toyota Sienna with 39k miles on it. I have noticed that when I am coming to a slow stop, the car will not stop right away as expected. Instead, it moves forward. It also happens with slow right or left turns. These incidents are sporadic, occurring at least once every time I drive. On this Memorial Day, I encountered a very dangerous situation while driving on the highway. I needed to brake for an emergency, but the vehicle refused to brake, nearly causing me to lose control. Following this incident, I conducted research and discovered that a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB-0047-24) exists. I took the car to the Toyota dealership, applied the TSB, and covered the full cost. I am uncertain whether the problem will receive a fix. Based on my knowledge, I believe this is a safety concern, and Toyota should investigate further.

I bought this vehicle new and it has an issue with braking. Once in a while when you hit your brake the car wants to keep going. Kind of like accelerating on its own. I let Toyota know about this a couple of times when I went in for scheduling maintenance. They say that they can-??t find anything wrong. It-??s has happened at least twenty times to me and more lately. Yesterday 5/29 it happened twice, and is very scary. If you go online you will see other people complain about the same problem. Sooner or later something bad is going to happen. I bought the van for my wife, and she is to afraid to drive it any longer
