Toyota Sienna(s) with Daytime Running Lights have a defect which causes them to yellow and then eventually burn out. They do not come from the factory like this. Mine in particular have turned yellow in just 6 months.
I have owned several Toyota vehicles with DRL lights and none of them yellowed even after 4 years.
Toyota is not honoring the warranty. Even if they do, by their own admission, it will just happen in 6 months again. They wouldnt do this because they cost $2000 each. These lights are LED and should be lasting a very long time, that is the entire point of LED when compared to incandesant bulbs. As a result owners of these Sienna vehicles must repeatedly replace their entire LED headlight assembly, which are intended to last for much longer times and mileages. Currently Toyota wont agree to replace the headlights while the vehicles are in-warranty. After warranty vehicle owners report replacing a single failed headlight can cost upwards of $2000 each.
I work with LEDs for my work and know this condition is caused by improper heat dissipation, usually caused by poorly designed heatsinks / other cooling components. Anyone that works with LED components on the surface mount level knows this is a characteristic of improperly cooled LEDs.
