I didn't know about the trouble with my dashboard cracking & melting until I had someone to look at it. Now, I found out about the replacement that I was supposed to have gotten. Since then, I mailed a letter to Toyota, but heard nothing. I know my car is now 16 years old, but if I would've been aware of this problem, ît would have been replaced! I bought this car brand new. Is anyone else having this problem now?

Car is like new. But the dash is sticky with many thin cracks all over. They had a recall on this, but they say it ended.

IT'S A SHAME, I LOVE MY CAR ALL EXCEPT THE DASH. I NEVER HEARD OF THEM SHUTTING DOWN A RECALL. I AM QUITE DISAPPOINTED IN TOYOTA. THE DASH HAS CRACKS ALL OVER AND THE PART THAT GOES OVER THE STEERING WHEEL IS MELTING. MY SOLARA ONLY HAS 65000 MLIES ON IT AND EVERYTHING IS PERFECT EXCEPT FOR DASH.

We are very disappointed that our dash has begun of the crack. This is a car that stays in a covered carport. We only use this car for travel. It is not used on a daily basis. It has 53,000 miles, and is 9 yrs old. When we do use it, we use a shield to protect the dash from the sun. Last month we noticed a very small crack on the dash. Within a few weeks, the problem has become several cracks that are growing daily. It is also very gooey and sticky. We have loved our car and are upset that this has happened. We would love for this problem to be fixed by installing a new dashboard as soon as possible. We had planned to keep it for many years to come. I drive a Camry on a daily basis and noticed that this one is also listed as a possible problem. I just hope this problem can be resolved as soon as possible. Thanks

Dashboard has numerous cracks and has also become sticky. Really looks bad. Only fix is to cover with cheap looking carpet or replace which is very expensive about $ 3000. When I bought to trade in the salesman told me has seen that often in Toyota Solaris and also Lexus. Toyota won't cover under warranty. Beware if you buy a Camry or Lexus.

Have called Toyota and complained. Have been to different dealers, and have been told, not their problem. They don't know of anyone having this problem. Also tried to get them to replace and I would pay a portion of cost. No, they wouldn't do this. Also feel like I am being discriminated against because I was told because I had my service work done at a private mechanics and not a dealer, they would not consider helping me. I have all my records as I have used this same mechanic for years. I guess Toyota does not approve of private enterprise.

I was very disappointed in their attitude. I know a few people with the convertibles and they all had this problem. A different dealership (different make) acknowledged that they knew that this was a continuing problem. Also. My. At in kept in the garage and doesn't even sit out in the sun. We have a local lawyer who puts see type of things on TV when people can not get satisfaction with establishments. I am going to see about contacting them, and broadcasting it on TV. I am thoroughly disgusted with the attitude of Toyota.

The cracks are obviously a manufacturing defect in the design and/or manufacturing of the dash assembly. The vehicle is still under mfg warranty but Toyota says the dash is only covered fro 3 years. This was my second new Toyota vehicle purchased and after getting nowhere with the dealership and Toyota Customer Relations, my only recourse is to pay approx. $2000 to have it replaced or live with it. In addition, it will affect the resale value.

So much for the high quality standards that Toyota has built a reputation on and they need to keep in mind that by not remeding things such as this the their stellar reputation with begin eroding. I will not buy another Toyota vehicle and will do my best to tell all whom I come in contact with about the poor quality of the dashboard and of Toyota's lack of commitment to stand by their products.

If I pay $2000 to fix it what's to say three years from now it won't reoccur?

Shame, shame, shame on Toyota for taking its customer base for granted. I know see why their sales levels and standing are in a downward trend and expect to see it accelerate as more and more people voice their opinions using today's virtual media channels.
