I started smelling mold/mildew. I found my spare tire and jack in trunk submerged in water and also under rear seats. The rain gutter that attaches to base of convertible top was the culprit as they usually only last 8-10 years. The top was in a great shape but went ahead and replaced both rain gutter and top since top was already 12 yrs old, and labor costs due to removing top in order to access rain gutter.
A year later, the carpeting on the passenger side in front and back was completely soaked. Removed the passenger front seat, rear seat, and front floor carpeting. I soaked up about six towels worth of water in floor boards. I propped up remaining carpeting to dry. It took about a month with top down on sunny days. I tried to figure out cause of water entering the car to no avail. AC drain was not clogged (used coat hanger and air compressor). I checked all drains/weather stripping using turkey baster filled with water - all water flowed naturally/fast. I finally reinstalled front passenger seat and carpeting.
A separate issue is a slow leak on both side windows dripping onto window/door controls into door handle AND water under door speaker. Ended up deciding to replace weather stripping on convertible top where it meets the door window (three pieces) and along front windshield (one piece from side across top and down other side). Fingers crossed this works.
