A dealer would not do a consumption test because the in service date was a week after I called, now the car consumes almost a quart a week.

I purchased my first Toyota, December 2017 from Tower Auto Sales located in Schenectady, NY. This was the first car I ever decided I would invest and make payments on. Prior to the Toyota Solara, I owned 2 1997 Honda's which I paid for in full. I'm a 26 year old working full time for NYSDOH only making $13.00/hr paid TWICE PER MONTH (not biweekly), and also attending Welding school. I figured I could take out a personal loan to pay off each month to put myself through school, thinking I was finally done dumping money into my car every month for repairs. NOPE.
I've always wondered why my check engine light would pop on and off randomly when I "knew" I had a good amount of oil in my engine. I have 14 hour days Monday through Friday, so I would ignore the light and wait for it to go back off and just thought it was a weird glitch. Once I started checking my oil, I noticed that even after a month or so after a oil change my engine would be completely DRY. I couldn't believe the amount of oil I had to put into this thing on a regular basis. I thought maybe there was a leak or something, but there's nothing leaking at all.
So, I Googled the problem and here we are. I have a Car Fax warranty, HOWEVER it is a limited warranty indicating it would only be fixed at the first 100,000 miles , or 1 month from the effective date. I bought the car with 150,000 miles on it (dealer said Toyota's drive great and you could run them into the ground), never knowing about this huge oil problem. Now I'm SCREWED, I CANNOT afford this kind of repair. I can't even afford to buy anything more than coffee and eggs when I go grocery shopping.
This is ridiculous, America already makes it almost impossible to succeed and be financially stable. Now I have to deal with a problem that was caused by the Manufacturer? I cannot believe that this is a 'Limited Warranty' when it will be a FOREVER problem with a Toyota owner. I also cannot believe the scum bags that sold me this car, they mentioned nothing about this problem and just slid me the Car Fax with the expired Warranty in the back of the folder. I will NEVER buy another Toyota again.

I am a person who always get my oil change on time since I bought my car. However, over the last year, I have notice the following issues:
My “oil pressure†light come on halfway through your maintenance schedule. My engine burn through as much as 1 quart of oil in 1,200 miles
I took my vehicle into the Toyota Dealership on August 10, 2017 located on 1000 Blairs Bridge Rd, Lithia Springs, GA 30122. They checked my vehicle and told me the following:
I was told that my engine burning through oil is “normal†and “nothing to be alarmed ofâ€. They acknowledge damaged, oil-deprived engine only to deny warranty coverage; they quoted me over 3,000 to get fixed. Two weeks later, I checked my oil and I was completely out of oil. Over time, this issue is getting worst. I have contacted Toyota Corporate office with no resolution; I continue to leave messages. I would like to have my car fixed since this issue is common in 2007 Solara's.

The first month I owned the car it was fine other than an intense idoling. After that I noticed one day while driving my oil light flashed while making a turn. Keep in mind I bought this from a Toyota dealership in lagrange GA, and they had just changed the oil and tires when I bought it although they were very vague about checking some potential issues and concerns I had. When I got It checked the dipstick and there was hardly any oil. So I took it to a shop and they said it may be a small leak so I had it sealed. One month later the same problem occured again. So I took it back and they resealed it just in case. One month after that same problem except come to find out it wasn't really leaking it was burning oil.. and I've had to buy oil and pay for oil changes numerous times in the ten months I've owned it. I have all the maintenance paperwork from before I had it since it was new and it was very well kept and was in pretty good condition for a used car. I don't believe it's a coincidence that these other Toyota owners and I have the exact same problem in different parts of the nation with different amounts of miles on our vehicles. I understand that Toyota may not want to deal with this because it's an expensive mistake, but it is their mistake and reputation and is not normal just like when Toyota's brakes use to go out...

In Dec 2016 I told my service man that my light came on for oil but I wasn't due to have my oil changed for over 20000 miles. He checked my car and it was down over 2quarts. Then when I did have my oil change appt he told me that I may have a problem with oil consumption and he saw on line that Toyota had a oil consumption test that I could bring it in for. So I called Germain Toyota THAT day. I spoke to a Dawn and told her of my concern for my car issue . I had her document there that I called ( I have this report in writing). She told me to call the next time this happened and I should bring my car in for a oil change and the they would see if I was having a problem. I DID that, I called on 2-24-17 and spoke to a Kelly. She told me to come in on Saturday 3-4-17 and they would do the oil change and start the test. I went in on 3-4 and was told that the "oil consumption test" ended in October???? Neither Dawn who I called first in December 2016 or Kelly that I talked to and arranged to get the oil change done ( on 2-24-17) told me the oil thing was EXPIRED in October!! So I asked to talk to a manager about this. Willy Demjanczuk listened to my problem and told me he would contact his "manufacturer CONTACT and call me on Monday 3-6, never heard from him so I called him today 3-11 and he said "sorry Toyota will not do anything to help me". Told me to call the 800 for Toyota - I did and they told me there is nothing they would do, I have to contact my dealership, Germain. So what can be done, if I am having an oil issue and I never got a notice from Toyota about the oil commsumption issue. I am afraid to have a engine problem - how can Toyota just cancel such an important test on a car that only has 89000 miles on it. Please let me know who I can contact about this major concern. Thank you. 239-580-8719

The engine is consuming too much oil while running. We have to put up to 4 quarts in 2 separate times between oil changes, which occur every 3-5k miles.

My 2007 Toyota Solara consumes way too much oil, about a quart every 1000 miles. I bought the car at 70,000 miles last year knowing it is one of the better ENGINEERED cars in the market, so I thought..A couple of mechanics of pretty good caliber have noted that it will eat more oil as more miles are put on the SOLARA..Once something is badly engineered don't expect a normal life cycle.
Well, I am sure the previous owner sold it to me knowing full well he got a lemon from Toyota and probably discovered it and quickly sold it. I have some moral boundaries and I just cannot sell it to some unsuspecting person..
After doing some Goggling, I discovered what I now see as a clear attempt by Toyota to try a legal end game around recall/ warranty issues and now they are in a class action lawsuit up the Ying-Yang. Pretty blatant too, as Toyota issued just recently a service bulletin to replace pistons and rings to alleviate the original faulty engineering. This all comes after the recent Toyota Corporate management was removed for the disgraceful disastrous faulty 'accelerator' problem that they knew about and hid too ! !!!
So what is so different this time Toyota, no one has died from this maybe? Is that what Toyota's smart lawyers are telling management or is it those greedy shareholders that force Toyota management to be less than HONORABLE and tuff it out.
I just became aware the Supreme Court acknowledge that corporations like Toyota can choose whatever religion they want. Wonder if Toyota will choose one? But it seems to me you have to have a dutiful CONSCIOUS to be able to choose such.
So Toyota exercise your dutiful Corporate conscious, do the right thing this time around (if it's not too late) and settle the lawsuit by admitting you made a engineering mistake and fess up to it like a responsible Corporate leader that you want to be? It will bring quantum dividends in the long run?
But maybe if this class action lawsuit that was filed in April 2014 does not work out, I just trade it back to Toyota.( for a non Toyota across)...You Buddhism kinda Toyota Corporates believe in 'Karma' maybe?

My really well kept and maintained 2007 Toyota Solara 2.4 is burning oil like crazy. Like last time I checked oil stick was bone dry. This is after I had done My own oil/filter change on normal time-miles basIs.
