I received a letter from Toyota Corp in March 2015 that they will replace my defective Solara dashboard at no cost. I immediately contacted Petersen Toyota (local dealer) and made an appointment to start the warranty claim. That was completed in March 2015. Petersen said that it would be 3-4 months before the replacement would arrive. Fast forward to December 2015, I contacted the dealer again. They said that it was on order, but they didn't know when it would arrive. I then called Toyota Corp (1-800-331-4331), they said that my claim was not properly filed by Petersen and I would need to return to the dealer, because the dealer forgot to take pictures of the defective dashboard. At that time, I was told it would 2-3 months...it been 4+ months.
I contacted Toyota Corp again today (5/16/16) and no one could tell when my dashboard would arrive. I've been waiting for well over a year.

Very unhappy with the quality of the dash. It's cracking and splitting in several areas.

I can't believe Toyota will not do anything about this problem.......... my husband has a 2004 toyota sienna van and his dash board is also cracked but really cracked. My car is a 2008 toyota solara. It now has 2 cracks. I even bought my husband and myself toyota custom dash protectors from the dealership. THIS IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM WITH THE MATERIALS MADE TO MANUFACTURER THIS JUNK DASHBOARD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I take care of my cars and "only" use the proper cleaning and protection made for my cars. Something has to be done about this.....

The problem is that they had an issue to fix it but I never received a letter because it was sent to another address. My aunt who also has a Toyota informed me that she had the same problem with her dashboard and they replaced it, but she had the problem a long time ago. When I spoke with Toyota they informed me that this was a warranty situation and mine expired last month. I feel like if Toyota knows that this is a known issue, it should not be treated like a warranty but a recall. My vehicle is normally stored in a garage, but I started working last year at a facility that does not have a covered garage so I guess the heat and the sun just recently started to melt my dashboard. I just noticed the problem after I tried to clean it because I had thought there was something on it making it look so sticky and faded.
