Tacoma SR5 Prerunner V6

I am the original owner of this truck. I certainly would not consider this 2007 Toyota truck to be an old jalopy. My problem occurred when I simply opened my door in a normal usual manner. When I went to close it, it was impossible to close, It was stuck in the wide open position, no matter how hard I tried to pull it, it would not close. My only solution was to find someone with tools to get the door closed. Turned out, the problems is the thin metal inside the door that the check arm is attached to (by 2 screws in the door and one bolt in the door jam) was fractured and had also bent probably from trying to close the door. I finally was able to drive away with my door closed after someone removed the door check arm and dropped it down inside my door. Went to several body shops and Toyota (who has no recall on this) and no one wants to weld re-fabricate that flimsy piece of damaged body metal, and ensure that when the check arm ( which is in fine shape) is reattached to the repaired metal patch that the repaired area will be weaker and fracture there again in a short amount of time. Their solution is to replace the entire door at a whopping $2,300!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
