Tacoma Pre Runner 4.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 152,000 miles

Today was another day when my failure to diagnose what's really wrong with my truck, was made worse when just all of a sudden, in this sun drenched placed called Southern CA, the check engine started blinking while I was about to offload my truck from the rest of the pack. It choked as soon as saw the blinking MIL. Sputtered and nearly stalled as I rushed back to the slow lane. Wanted to stop but could not since my children for their food. It felt as if something was pulling it back and could not release and let go. And when it did, it only lasted a few feet then it will start blinking back.

I have an assigned OBD II scanner. Since last year, I know that the truck had been running rich but just could not afford bringing it to the stealership here. I knew it was regularly throwing a P0306 code and I replaced the spark plugs, ignition coils and wires but it was still throwing the same. But the blinking, when it flairs up, can really stall anyone faint in the heart and maybe some driver panic if he or she doesn't know how to handle it. With my OBD scanner I felt secure that although I could not make the error code go away, I could reset it every time! Anybody has this problem please share your fix.

I am a DIY who had been fed up by the unnecessary charges the stealer ship impose but offers no fix! Maybe it is time to switch to Ford F-150. I already know that the valve cover gasket is leaking and probably was causing the misfire. I go to a DIY dream garage in my place but the cost to rent was very prohibitive. Maybe had I not lost income due to this pandemic I could have addressed it. But well, just so that yeah, Toyota will not give you problems for the first 6 years. What you need to be scared of, is after 6 years, when you thought you're done with the monthly payments, all sorts of problems start to pop up. Beware!

flashing check engine light: vehicle stalls

Never buy a Toyota, I have owned two Toyota's in my life. The first one was a 1985 pickup which still runs to this day with no major repairs done. Now my new one is the biggest piece of crap, it has been in the shop for over 40 days in less then a year. ( ITS A LEMON!!!) Toyota failed to recognize that and I have had to go through the Toyota Arbitration Process. I am still waiting for the arbitrator to get back to me with a decision. I will keep this site updated once I hear a decision from the Arbitrator.
