Tacoma Prerunner 4.0L

  • Manual transmission
  • 10,000 miles

I have a 4.0 engine with a 6 speed manual transmission. At 18mpg my gas mileage sucks. Approximately 90-95% of my driving is on an interstate freeway. A Toyota rep advised me to install a cold air intake, but that didn't improve the gas consumption. I could only attribute the poor mileage due to the engine always running at a high RPM. Sounds like a computer/ software design problem to me.
