1998 toyota tacoma 223,000 miles. frame in rear tire area rusted thru. Needs to be replaced by toyota. Will take it or call monday and see what dealership says.

I am writing this for my neighbor Robert Leach. He purchased this truck brand new and as you can see by mileage it wasn’t used hard..Big pieces of rust started coming off in chunks at the undercarriage took it to Toyota where he purchased it..They did spray undercoating on it but that is falling off. For the price you pay for a vehicle this should not be happening, it’s all rusted underneath..If problem is not rectified he is never going to consider a Toyota again..can you find the solution to this problem? A customer should be satisfied with their purchase, not regret ever buying a vehicle.. Thank you.
Ps He feels the rust wasn’t properly taken off before the under spray was applied thus the reason undercoating is coming off.

The frame on the 2008 Tacoma double cab was tested at Johnson's City Toyota in Tennessee on 6/06/15. It was tested for corrosion and it passed. But now on 4/06/17 the frame is rusted out with holes in it.Talked to Toyota and they will not do anything about it cause the class action suit was settled.

took truck to burlington, vt to get truck frame checked. they were supposed to check and spray the frame. when I got it back and checked it out,they didnt spray half the frame.I was disappointed with the job ... now the frame is cracked almost all the way across the frame near the back tires and I have my grand children with me in the vehicle. Toyota has to replace this frame before the truck breaks in half.
