I have 98000 miles on my truck, 90% of it freeway miles. Every time I had made a road trip, the back of my neck would burn, and keep burning for weeks after I was back from my trips. Two weeks ago, after driving 1000 miles, the burning increased to extreme shooting nerve needles from the left side of my neck down below and above my shoulder blade, down below and above my rib cage in the area of my heart, and around the back of my shoulder, down through my arm pit, up the front of my shoulder and into my rotator cuff. All of this on the left side of my body, and all emanating from the left side of my neck, all the while the back of my neck was still burning. Please excuse the long sentence. The pain was reduced by 500mg of aspirin and 500mg of ibupropin. The next day I hunted rocks, bending and stretching, and worked most of the pain away by stretching the muscles out. As soon as I started my return trip, the pain returned, all the same as above. As I was rubbing my neck I noticed that my truck does not have a shoulder strap. It has a neck strap, since the entire strap was tight up against the lower part of my neck, jerking my neck ever time the truck made a turn or hit a bump. For that matter, every time I moved my body, the shoulder strap pressed against my lower neck. When I put this neck strap behind my back, the pain subsided almost immediately. Now I have to have the strap behind my back even in the city, otherwise the pain in my neck is there all the time. So, for the last 8 years, all my neck pain has been caused from the defective seat belt, and I want it fixed/replaced. It is illegal to drive with the shoulder belt behind my back. There needs to be a device that moves the shoulder strap from the right side of my body over toward the middle of my body so that the shoulder strap lays across my shoulder and doesn't wrap around my lower neck.

I have 3 active recalls on this vehicle and Toyota seems unable to supply the parts to fix it. The recalls are for "drive and front passenger seat belt assemblies", "rear leaf spring" and "corrosion-resistant compound application to the vehicle frame". for the seat belt problem, I have made appointments with 2 different Toyota dealers within the last year, have driven 60 miles each way to have it done and have been told when I got there that the parts were on "national backorder". I have also been told by both dealers as well as a Toyota representative that there are no replacement parts for the "leaf spring" problem and that they didn't know when where would be any. As for the last issue, Toyota has put a deadline of 3/31/16 on the recall and based on my experience with Toyota dealers, I doubt that I can find one in my state that will do the work before the deadline. I have already expressed my frustration with both the last dealer and with the Toyota representative. My Toyota Tacoma (2008) seatbelts had a recall by Toyota; the 'screws that attach the seat belt pre-tensioner to the seat belt retractor...can become lose over time...'; in my Tacoma truck we did the recall repair at the dealership in juneau, Alaska in April of 2014. This week the screws did disengage apparently because the seat belt is now loose from the retractor entirely. This renders the seatbelt without a functioning bottom line. This is quite a safety issue. Consequences: I am now unable to state my seatbelt will engage in any way, shape or form, and protect my life in an accidents. Correction: The dealership staff were initially non-committal with regards to the problem being related to the recall of 2014; I went up the line on the phone and now they are offering to inspect it, to 'see if it is'; this is not taking responsibility for a known problem and is dangerous. They need to be much more proactive in monitoring the initial recall trucks to see if the problem repeats over time.

In addition, the seat belt separated from the frame. A police report was filed. The contact sustained injuries to the forehead that required medical attention.
