I asked Kay Jennings Toyota to address the problem just days before the basic warranty expired. They said they'd refer it to regional. No one contacted me and I waited several years to follow up. I recontacted Toyota last month, they told me to get in touch with Mr. Bennett at Kay Jennings Toyota. Mr. Bennett checked and found out that the extended warranty didn't cover the issue, the dealer sold "clear coat" protection didn't cover the issue and the regular warranty didn't cover it. Mr. Bennett offered to provide me the contact of several wheel refinishers who could make it look OK, but I'll get to pay for it.

I've since seen lots of various Toyota trucks with the same problem.

Yep, I waited too long to press the issue. Yep, I know Toyota won't do anything. Yep, this pickup has less than 19,000 miles on it. It will be for sale soon.

Update from May 23, 2015: Subsequently A representative from Toyota has contacted me and offered to assist me in resolving the wheel issue. The representative went above and beyond in offering to provide compensation to repair the problem. I believe Toyota has acted in good faith, However I have declined their offer of assistance because of the local dealers attitude and process for dealing with my issue. I still think there is an issue with the manufacturing of the wheels. However, that was 2009 when the wheels were made and Toyota has probably changed their process/manufacture since 2009.
