The transmission, while driving, has a jerky shifting motion. Additionally, when stopped at lets say a red light, the transmission prior to driving away, will seem like it engages with an extreme jerking motion, almost feeling like you've been rear ended.

Dear sir or madam: I purchased a 2010 Toyota Tacoma double cab 4X4 at the end of 2010. And within months of my purchase I noticed excessive corrosion under the vehicle taking place. I reported the problem to the dealership and my concerns were either dismissed or simply ignored. Approximately 1 year later, during the corrosion recall of the previous Tacoma's, I reported my observations to the Toyota safety recall department. This time I was told I could pay for a corrosion treatment, but no recalls were yet taking place for the 2010 models. I ask you to please look in to the Toyota corrosion problem, it extends from 2004 to the present. And it is not about just leaf's that could fracture. It is about Toyota failing to acknowledge a problem that was already taking place in other earlier models.

This is a follow-up to ODI numbers 10444039 & 10444967. After much work on my part, a Toyota factory representative examined the vehicle in question on three separate occasions. The factory represenative was able to reproduce the occurence twice. The solution or guess at the time, was to replace the automatic transmission. This was done on 3/12/12. The problem still occurs. I have experienced and documented the occurrence over 150 times since December 2010. Last contact with the Toyota executive branch deemed the vehicle to be operating as "designed". final outcome was made after finding another vehicle (just one) like mine in the state of Virginia. That vehicle was taken out and driven by a factory representative. That vehicle also shuddered while breaking to and maintaing the speed of 20mph. Final analysis/answer was that the computer had a problem with open and closed loops and a temperature involving 138 degree's. no further solutions were offered; vehicle "operating as designed". as of this date the vehicle in question has less then 19,000 miles and the following work has been done in an attempt to rectify that occurence "operating as designed"; 1) front rotors ground twice 2) a new transmission was installed 3) new rotors were placed on the vehicle to replace the ground ones. Two links that do work for anyone having problems are listed below: [xxx] (customer retention [xxx]) [xxx] (president & coo [xxx]) information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Correction to oid id#1044518 occurs while braking and reaching 20mph...... several months after purchasing my new vehicle (purchased 8/2010) I started to notice a shudder through the floor board and steering column. The shudder occurred sporatically and always while braking and reaching the speed of 20mph. It reminded me of driving over the rumble strips cut along freeways and prior to toll boths. The sudder occurs on upgrades, downgrades, turns, and flat roadways. A Toyota dealership has worked on the vehicle several times and been unable to locate the problem. I have been told that the dealership cannot reproduce the incident and that the vehicle is "operating as designed". dave zellers (customer retention for Toyota) assisted in my complaint and in the end refunded $890 as a sign of good faith (extended warranty price). Toyota has ground the front disks on two separate service occasions stating they were not flat. They have cut more metal from the front disks than I have used with only 14,000 plus miles on the vehicle. The problem still exists. I now believe there is a fluid restriction in the transmission or a problem in the drive train. Once the incident stopped when I placed the transmission into neutral. I have recorded the incidents and they have occurred at least 106 times and are still happening. Toyota has more or less written my complaints off closing out my last complaint number filed at the customer service line. This vehicle is a 4 cylinder 2wheel drive.

Bought my 2010 Tacoma used. Did not observe any issues during long test drive. Very next day began to notice auto transmission not finding correct gear after slowing then making a turn; does not happen when truck is brought completely to rest with pause before the turns. I also notice transmission shudder at times when slowing in straightline; feels same as clutch slip / stall with manual trans if gear too high for speed. And my transmission downshifts too deep when I brake medium hard going downhill. I have begun to manually shift during turns without stops. Had dealer inspect transmission fluid & system at first oil change and discussed observations with service tech. Was told mine is fine, operating normally, & that these transmissions are hyper-active. Beginning to think my Toyota selection was a mistake. Does anyone make a trouble-free vehicle these days?

Whenever slowing down from 25 mph to make a turn or just to slow up, when accelerator is again pushed down to speed up, the truck "hunts" for the proper gear, usually shifting to too low a gear for the speed needed (transmission/computer problem), causing vehicle to pause & not pick up speed. This causes a severe threat of being rear ended or hit in an intersection due to lack of acceleration. Dealers won't fix it or reprogram the computer. I've owned a lot of vehicles & none have had this problem..

My 2010 Tacoma, while sitting at a stop light, suddenly surges as if somebody hit the gas or slammed me in the rear. It hasn't pushed me beyond my brakes but it is very disturbing. I reported this to the Toyota dealer and they said they couldn't reproduce it. It doesn't happen with any regularity, it just happens out of the blue. Additionally, when you go to very low speeds and make a sharp turn the rpms jump to about 3,000 and then it feels like the transmission kicks in. This was also reported to the dealer who said it was by design but if it is it is poor design.

My 2010 Toyota Tacoma engine try to accelerate by it self while stop at a red light. My wife held her foot on the brake to keep it from running into the intersection the tire were spinning while it was sitting still.also my transmission seems to slip when I give it gas between 8 to 12 mph. I told the Toyota dealer about it he said that he hasn't received any reports from Toyota on these two problems he didn't seem to interested in my problem.
