When I took in the truck to show the dealer the Toyota tech guy was there. He said Toyota has had no problems of that sort and would not warranty it. Claimed I must have installed aftermarket bulbs, or had hit something. Now I'm mad and said if I had installed the aftermarket bulbs then the dust behind would be disturbed and if I hit something then the lens would have cracks centered in the impact out and how would it get both headlights and not the surrounding area. He then said he will warranty them one time as a goodwill.

The dealer ordered the headlights and installed them and a radiator clip. My truck had a chrome bull bar in front and claimed extra labor from Toyota saying it had to be removed to perform the work. I later confirmed the bulk bar had no interference for headlight replacement. PS, the problem reoccurred 12/09/13 with 34,087 miles to only to the right headlight lens, truck 3 months out of warranty but not on miles. I called Toyota, they said I had to take it to the dealer to confirm the problem for goodwill parts only (this was my recommendation) and they gave me a case #. I called the dealer and explained and made appointment and they ordered the part.

Soon after I dropped off the truck dealer called me said they won't warranty the headlight. He said it would only cover fogging and claimed I hit something. Here I go again, same dealer as the 1st time but a different service manager. As before I explained and also told him to look at the 1st time warranty as it was for the lens cracking not fogging. He then agreed to warranty it. The bill came to $456.42 of that Toyota is to reimburse me only $311.65 for light only. Allow 6 to 8 weeks for reimbursement. I should have gone with better looking aftermarket headlights with a total cost about $135.00. I own 5 Honda cars and an SUV old Dodge and a Chevy truck, all have plastic lens and I have had no problems with them.
