Stiff steering on my 2010 Toyota Tacoma with 51,000 miles. Have read many other complaints of this same problem. Of course this happens 1 year after my extended warranty expired. Some reports of U-joint replacement fixing it, and others reported steering column falling into lap after adjusting telescopic adjustment.
How does Toyota manufacturing not do a recall on this problem? I'm calling the dealership tomorrow to see if anything can be done. Owned a 1990 Toyota truck for 20 years and hardly had any problems. The manufacturer has sure gone to hell. I am one pissed off Toyota owner.

Battery light on and power steering gone.
I really can't complain about this vehicle up until now. It hasn't given us any trouble previously. This problem is just weird, though. I suspect that the truck is drivable, but the steering is so hard that I don't trust it. Plus the battery light bothers me. It starts up just fine and the battery leads look good. I'll have someone check it out, but not the local dealer: they are too far away and they will rape me on the price. I really would recommend the Tacoma as a reliable pickup.
