Preliminary springs recall on Tacoma pickup trucks I have received two letters from Toyota over the last two and half years concerning a preliminary recall on the springs. Their claim is that they are still trying to figure out how to correct the problem. I do not believe that. Toyota has become experts at stonewalling and in the meantime, thousands of Tacoma owners are driving a vehicle that squeaks so loud that people are continually asking what is wrong with your truck. Anyone who has tried to sell or trade their Tacoma has had to absorb a significantly reduced price/value, for no one wants to wait another three years for Toyota to execute the recall. This lack of action is similar to what Toyota did concerning the headlight lens which cracked or burned due to the heat from the amber bulbs. It took over two years to get Toyota to admit that there was a problem and provide replacement headlight assemblies. Even our local dealer questions the motives of Toyota in not resolving the problem that they created. Thank you for putting pressure on Toyota to execute a recall the vehicles having problems with the springs and to correct them. Thank you for your service to the citizens of the usa.

Recall number 14V604 - rear suspension leaf springs. One of the leafs on the drivers side rear spring has broke and moved out of position and is hitting the rear brake line. Please see photos attached. I spoke with Toyota and after some extensive dialog have been assured that when I take it to the dealer and it is confirmed that the spring is indeed broke, that the dealer will temporarily remedy the defect at no cost to me. Additionally, when Toyota has a remedy for the above mentioned recall, I will be notified and the vehicle will be repaired to satisfy the recall. I bring attention to it on this site as the recall mentions only that the leaf could hit the fuel tank; this is to show that it could also hit the brake line which is an additional safety issue. Thank you

I recently purchased a used 2010 Toyota Tacoma. I was informed that there is a safety recall (NHTSA reference id 14V604) on the rear leaf springs. The recall was issued in September 2014 and Toyota has still not developed a remedy for this safety issue. Does the NHTSA have any recourse to compel Toyota to develop a remedy? the recall has been issued for more than one year and there is still no remedy.

Experiencing a clunking and banging from the rear of my truck that matches the description listed in the recall letter we received pertaining to the failure of rear leaf springs on our 2010 Toyota Tacoma trd. On visual inspection, found that some of the leaf plates have moved out of position which can develop into a dangerous situation. We live 50 miles from the closest Toyota dealership and may need to have the vehicle towed because of the safety issues. We only have the one vehicle and because of family/medical matters, would need some type of loaner vehicle if our truck is to be kept by the service dept. For more than one day.

Toyota has notified me (NHTSA recall number: 14V604) on September 29, 2014 and again in September, 2015 concerning the rear suspension system of my Tacoma Toyota truck. I am very concerned that this safety recall 'fix' has gone on much too long. I have contacted my local dealer twice to see about this recall but they say they have not received the needed parts from Toyota. In the mean time my leaf springs occasionally make noises described by the dealer as a potential safety problem. My question: Why is it taking Toyota so long to repair what appears to be a simple problem" am I endangering my family and myself by continuing to drive my 2010 Tacoma"

September of 2014 - Toyota sent out a preliminary recall notice - NHTSA campaign number: 14V604000- and that a remedy would be coming. The springs on my Tacoma broke, brought it in, Toyota deemed the truck was not safe to drive, and gave me a rental. They do not know when it can be fixed. Toyota has been sitting on this for nearly a year. And they still do not have parts to fix it? I was the second truck that was brought in last Friday with the same problem.
