Tacoma

  • Automatic transmission
  • 45,000 miles

I am 65 years old. I have a Tacoma with a tow package. Have never towed anything, been off road, or even on a dirt road. All my suspension parts have either had to be replaced, or are bad now and need attention: I am talking about shocks, leaf springs and a couple other things I don't know the name of right now.

The main issue I am having right now is that every time I start driving there is a bad vibration under the car. The noise goes away after about 30 seconds.

I take good car of my truck, but am losing patience and running out of money having all this stuff fixed/replaced.

Tacoma TX PRO 4.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 41,000 miles

1 month after owning a Certified Pre Owned 2011 Tacoma TX Pro I started to notice a vibration in the cab when accelerating from 10-30 mph with a pedal level more than 1/4 throttle. Took to dealership and they also were able to replicate the issue. Here is everything that happened, which Toyota has refused to fix:

1. I received notification from Toyota dealership representative that they have replicated the issue and Toyota will NOT honor a recall for 2005 - 2011 Tacomas: http://www.autoblog.com/2014/09/29/toyota-recalls-690k-tacoma-truck-rusty-leaf-springs-fire-risk/

2. I called Toyota corporate and they mentioned that my VIN is not listed as one of the Tacomas in the recall. Corporate mentioned they will only replace if I was under the 3 year/36k mile warranty. I was at 41k miles with a platinum warranty. Corporate also mentioned they will only replace the leaf springs when there is a mechanical failure.

3. Representative from Toyota also called corporate mentioning that the leaf spring recall is directly related to the cab vibration issue and will fix the pinion angle causing the vibration. Corporate rejected.

I still have the vibration and Toyota will not honor the recall or acknowledge that the leaf spring replacement will fix the vibration even though the Toyota dealership acknowledged that it will fix the issue.

Based on this experience I will be trading in the Tacoma and never purchasing a Toyota again.
