Will not fix the frame. my husband has a 2005 and it looks new compared to my 2012. The last mechanic I used told me not to bring it back to him to much rust. Toyota said it passed their inspection. There is no way. They-??ve had my truck almost a yr. I thought they was fixing it. No they just been chilling. They never called me to tell me it was they wouldn-??t honor the recall. Nothing. I keep reading on here cold climate states are the only complaints. Someone is lying on here because I know at least 20 Toyota Tacoma owners from Texas who have filed incident reports.

My truck lost drivability while I was going 60 I ran into a ditch to stop. It hads two codes. I took it in they replaced my rack n pinion. Check engine light came on. Mechanic said he could not work on it anymore because of the rust. To much corrosion he would be risking liability for other parts getting damaged because of all the rust. Took it to mike Shaw to have frame tested. It passed they said. But I can-??t find a mechanic to work on it but mike Shaw and they-??ll just keep charging for each item they don-??t care.

I was attempting to park in a parking space to return items at a department store at a mall. All of a sudden my truck accelerator on its own. The truck traveled over two cements curbs crossed a road before traveling through a chain-link fence down the front of retaining wall into a wooded area swamp. It took three tow trucks to remove the truck. Police report 21-374-AC. Truck wasn't repairable so my insurance company totalled the truck. I filed a complaint with Toyota in Case number 210602000065 but no outcome. This is the second time this truck has had accelerator issues. My first complaint was Aug 2019 with Toyota case number 1908060035. Toyota pulled the black box and came back stating they couldn't find anything.

Horn will not work with the steering wheel centered. If you turn the steering wheel 90% to the left or right the horn has worked sometimes. Toyota issued a recall for this problem on other Tacoma but not for the 2012. The Toyota dealership is saying that its most likely the clock spring.

I brought truck to Toyota dealership as part of rusted frame recall to be verified. They stated truck was not rusted enough underneath for Toyota to approve recall. That was a couple of months ago. I have recently brought it to a few mechanics to do some work on A/C as the A/C stopped working and that refuse to work on it as the truck is so rusted underneath!! they said it would crumble. Not even worth it.

At less then 50K miles on the odometer and 900 miles from home my truck decided to get a check engine light and trac off light caused by codes P2440 and P2442 and P2445. Merry christmas to me. These codes put me into limp mode while on the freeway in snowy and icy conditions. I could not maintain speed with the flow of traffic as I was trying to get to the shoulder with traffic zooming all around me, dangerous and scary! Toyota wants $2000 to repair it. Internet research has shown me that it is a common problem that Toyota fails to recognize for Tacoma but has issued a tsb and extended warranties for Tundra. Shame on Toyota. Now I get to endure the cost of repair after the holiday seasons and I'm sure my boss will love to hear I wont be returning to work on time.

Almost lost control of vehicle when the trucks performance jumped into limp mode "trac off" as I was driving. Loss of speed and performance caused me to be a driving hazard. 2 vendors today found the codes P2440 and P2442, which appear to have triggered my truck into "trac off" and "check engine" light on. Mode causes my truck to only drive about 45 significantly impacts performance and dangerous to drive. This is a safety hazard, I had no warning that the loss of performance was going to happen initially when I was traveling.there is another problem that appears to be on a larger scale.I have briefly scanned the internet in the last hour and spoke with various vendors about the problem & I have called my dealership & even the main Toyota line and everyone is aware of the issue. The codes are P2440 & P2442. After finding out the codes I looked at the air injection pump & I was astonished to see that the pump was completely full of what, like someone literally took a waterhose & filled it up. Logically, this is why the air injection switching valves 1 and 2 are both stuck open one code for each of the valves. The next thing that is unusual is that there are an incredible amount of people having this same problem but no recall..then I found the Tundra recall for the exact same pump issue! it is peculiar, that a different model truck with the same pump has this problem & no recall or remedy. Fact-Tundra is a more expensive truck than Tacoma, is Toyota fixing public relation issues for those more well off because they know how to complain to the right folks or cause a big stir and they will hold off on pulling the trigger on a "warranty fix or recall" on the working mans Tacoma? this is just an opinion but my intuition tells me this is intentional. The fix is approx $2000 I am stuck driving 45 mph till then with shady steering & performance. #accountability #me too

Secondary air injection system failure caused my vehicle to enter limp mode in a high speed/high traffic area. "limp mode" renders the vehicle incapable of speeds higher than 30 mph. Causing a hazard to other motorists, I exited the highway as quickly as possible. Upon researching the topic I can plainly see this is something that is quite common with my particular vehicle. However, other models made by the same manufacturer are being recalled and repaired while the model I own is not. In addition to model, the year of my vehicle seems to be experiencing an unusually high volume of failures. Filing a complaint here is only appropriate and appropriately, the automotive maker should be held responsible.

I was pulling out on to the highway and my truck failed to exceed 30 mph with oncoming traffic which nearly caused an accident. Upon inspection by my Toyota dealership, they explained that my secondary air injection valves were stuck open (P2440, P2442) which caused the truck to lose all power. I was then told that since I am no longer under warranty (my truck is only 5 years old with 48,000 miles on it) that Toyota would not cover the 2,000 dollar cost to have the part replaced. Upon further research, countless others were having the same issue. The Toyota Tundra also had this issue and an extended warranty was offered for those vehicles. Since Toyota knows this is an issue it is my belief that they should stand by their product and fix the defective part which is a huge safety issue as I found out. Furthermore, there is no reason this emissions part should ever shut down the power to the truck while driving. Thank you for your time.

Driving at high way speed; the ABS light, parking brake light, traction light, lost power to windows, A/C, radio, power steering, engine was running rough, then the check engine light came on. Could be a safety issue of control of vehicle for drivers not paying attention. Toyota dealer said the root cause was a bad cell in battery that caused the ign#2 fuse to be blown. These batteries have known issues to be bad from the factory. Reported earlier about 30000 miles the factory battery would not start vehicle and dealer said they replaced because of a bad cell. I own a 2008 Toyota Tacoma also, same model and make as being reported and that battery has been replaced 2 times for same reason.

P2442 Toyota secondary air injection system switching valve stuck open bank 2 I have got this code three times now and the secondary air injection pump and valves will have to be replaced. There is 33,282 miles on the truck right now. Many, many, many complaints online about this issue but Toyota is ignoring it. $1900 fix is very steep for a truck with 33K miles.
