I have a 2012 Tacoma with less than thirty thousand miles on it when I noticed the lamanent finish on one of the wheels was starting to chip off. A small area to start with and slowly got larger . Then a second spot started and got larger. A closer look showed several small chips had also started.
I called Nourse Toyota of Chillicothe, where I bought the vehicle. I took the vehicle in to be checked out. The service manager, Chris, looked at the wheel and wanted a service tech to look at it. I asked Chis how many trips do I have to make to Chillicothe to get this problem taken care of. On March, 11 2014 over a month after the first complaint I made, a service tech and a factory rep. were able to be at the Nourse dealership. After a quick inspection by these "experts" they determined that the damage was caused by rocks hitting the wheels. They did not mention the wheel on the driver's side of the vehicle with two chips in it . They did not mention the crack in the finish on the passenger side wheel with the most chipping .They said this was road hazard and not covered by any warranty, regular, under 36,000 miles nor the extra 100,000 mile Carefree Car Protection that I purchased. I told them I thought the problem was the cheap ass wheels and left very disgusted .
